Aquafina == Tap Water!

Were you surprised? I wasn't.

I didn't hear what happened that caused Pepsi to confess that Aquafina comes straight out of the tap!

My sister-in-law was telling me that Tempe (Arizona) sells "Tempe Tap Water" and label it with that and people are buying it!

We really only keep bottled water for emergencies; otherwise, we have bottles that we clean and re-use/recycle. We have a PUR water filter on our tap because our water is highly chlorinated and who knows what else is in there?

It may be tap water but it's been thru 7 different types of filtration. I read where pretty much all bottled water is tap water. We have to filtrate our water here at home because we have a well and it has a copper taste to it without the filtration. We use both bottled water and our filtered tap water from home.

I'm not surprised at the report. Just wondering when the rest of the water companies will 'come out'!!

Aah, filtered tap water. I hadn't heard that part. At least they filter it!

I've purchased some brands of water bottles that taste *off* and honestly did not taste filtered -- but we keep them for emergencies anyway so we probably wouldn't be too picky if we needed water badly enough.

I have been refilling the bottles for about 6 months now with my own tap water! WHen the bottles finally wear out, I recycle them, but I get a TON of uses out of one. I know what you mean.

I've always known the water labels that say purified drinking water are just that. Unless the label says spring water, the water isn't anything special. I've bought Nestle purified water and Ozarka spring water. Either one is fine to me. I have a friend that won't drink anything but spring water.

nope...not surprised. Our local tap water is really great. It's a waste to use a filter because it's so good. We buy a 6 pack of Fuji water because we like the bottles (they wash up and don't make a "taste" in the water if you know what I mean) and reuse and reuse. I do buy cases of Costco kirkland water for parties (easier than cups and pitchers) and for emergencies

I saw on TV that we should NOT give bottled water to children because there is no fluoride in it.

Also they said not to use bottled water or well water for infant formula for the same reason. I had not even thought about the fluoride.

You're right. When my sons were little, the dentist gave us floride tablets for them to take because we had well water.

I still get bottled water--in the 20 or whatever ounce bottles, but when we drink them, we refill them from our own tap half way.

Then throw them in the freezer...

Then when we want a cold water "to go", we have automatic ice in the bottles ready for additional water.

(keeps them out of the fridge)

You have to watch those recycled water bottles, too.

When you choose to reuse a plastic water bottle, don’t forget to clean it just as you would any drinking container. Be sure to wash with hot soapy water and dry thoroughly between each use.

The concern is that bacteria can thrive in warm, moist environments, and once opened, bacteria can grow in virtually any beverage container under the right conditions.

We've had a filter on our kitchen faucet or used a filter pitcher for several years. One summer our water was awful, I don't recall what caused the problem, but that's when we started filtering. I know our water isn't too high in chlorine, I can't smell it. However, a couple of summers ago when I was testing the pool water, I tested the tap water. It had too much chlorine, IMHO. No wonder our clothes fade.
We buy bottled water on sale, $3-4 a case and reuse the bottles. We do take bottled water with us on vacation as you never know the quality of the water in another city. There's a certain convenience to bottled water, but it's not a necessity in our house.

Re-using Bottles

I saw on Oprah that you are not supposed to re-use those plastic bottles more than once or twice. The plastic in them breaks down. Just like you shouldn't microwave in plastic

When I buy water, I only buy Ozarka spring water. We have a filter on our fridge that we drink most of our water out of. I usually buy it for the convenience with the girls sports. I also buy Gatorade & Propel. We reuse the Gatorade bottles because they have a bigger mouth and seem to be a stronger plastic. I also freeze them halfway full and then fill them the rest of the way up. We recycle the Ozarka bottles.

It bugs me (probably unjustifyably) seeing water being thrown in the landfill in plastic bottles that won't break down for 1000 years or whatever the number is. I don't like seeing platic bottles with lids on in the trash half full or full of water or any liquid. If people are going to throw bottles away, they should empty them first! (I don't know if it matters or not, but it seems like it should!)

I do not recall it being said the plastic breaks down. What I do recall is to wash the bottles after each use (as another poster said). There's a lot of bacteria in a water bottle from backwash .

Same here. On Aquafina, it says P.W.S. for the water source, or something like that. P.W.S. is for Public Water Source.

I'm fine with it, tho, because I know what this is. As long as it tastes "good" I'm fine with it. I'm not a water snob.

Ewwww!

If we reuse ours, I put them all in the dishwasher (caps and all). That way I know they're clean.

We buy either Sam's or Neslte water. We have a well and do NOT drink the water.

I bought bottled water for Naysa's formula. Her dr gave me a fluoride RX for her.
