I35 bridge collapse in Mpls! PRAY!

It's HORRIBLE. The whole bridge just cracked and buckled and dumped cars into the Mississippi. Please say some prayers! I've been watching it live on Fox News since they broke in with it.

OMG! I just was coming to post this, after reading it on MSN.com. This is horrible!!! I can't even imagine.

This alone describes why I am terrified of bridges.

Saying a prayer for these people...

I grew up in Muscatine, Iowa which is on the Mississippi River. When I was little the bridge split and a truck was hanging off of it. I saw a picture of this and was TERRIFIED of bridges for a very long time. I'm 50 now but I was just talking to my mom and she brought that up!! I'm really not scared of them anymore. So very, very sad.

It is a terrible tragedy. I'm hearing today that there are more people underneath all the rubble. What's so disturbing is the bridge was inspected not long ago (I've forgotten when) and it only scored a 50 out of 120, and that there are lots of bridges in the U.S. with that same score. Looks like there's going to be some people and companies in trouble for this one.

Now I KNOW why I'm scared of crossing high bridges over water!! I can't imagine the fear that they felt.

I live just outside of minneapolis and my dd crossed that bridge just 3 minutes before it collaped , she was returning from the air port dropping off grandson! it was very scary at first be cause the timing was right for her to be on it and at first the cell phones were jammed and I could not reach her, there are many of our mycouponers in that area please pray for them!

Hey Squeak,

I didn't know you were a fellow Minnesotan. I have many friends and family in the Minneapolis/St Paul area--luckily all are fine!

What a freak tragedy tho........

Until last year, I lived in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. I could not believe this tragedy unfolding on the news. I feel so bad for the friends and families of those still unaccounted for; cannot imagine their grief.
Our family didn't travel in that part of Minnepolis at all, but we most likely have driven on that bridge. once or twice. Very scary and unimaginable.

I am terrified of sitting in traffic on a bridge too. I think a lot of the bridges are just obsolete at this point. Years ago when they were built, the engineers couldn't have known that we would have bumper to bumper vehicles sitting on these bridges for long periods of time, and they certainly couldn't have predicted all of the weight of the vehicles nowadays.

I'm in Arkansas, not too far away from where the bridge fell a few years ago after being hit by a barge (Arkansas/Oklahoma bridge). I thought that one was bad, but I just can't get over what horror those people in Minnesota must have felt. So sad. I hope something good will come of this and cities everywhere will start taking a serious look at the bridges they have. You know there are so many more out there that need torn down and rebuilt to today's standards.
