Gerber Recalls Cereal

Ack seems this will never end with the recalls. here's one from gerber.

Gerber cereal recalled over choking hazard - Kids & Parenting - MSNBC.com

WASHINGTON - Gerber Products Co. recalled all packages of its organic rice and organic oatmeal cereals Friday because of potential clumping of the baby food, which can pose a choking hazard.

Gerber said it has received complaints of choking but no reports of injury.

The company said a "limited quantity" of the cereals could contain lumps that do not dissolve in water or milk. The cereals were distributed nationwide and to Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

Food and Drug Administration compliance officer Sandra Williams said the agency was aware of the voluntary recall "and we concur."

Gerber spokesman David Mortazavi said the company was recalling 306,760 packages of organic rice cereal and 167,724 packages of organic oatmeal cereal.

All codes of the two products, sold in 8-ounce boxes, are being recalled. The organic rice cereal UPC code is 15000 12504 and the organic oatmeal cereal UPC code is 15000 12502.

The baby food should be not be eaten, and customers can call the Gerber parents resource center at 800-443-7237 or 231-928-3000 to return the product and receive a full refund.

Sadly these should have been off the shelves for weeks now.. working where I work I get to 'handle' all of the recall stuff and we pulled this about 2 1/2 weeks ago.

Just like the FP that was just recalled earlier this week.. we pulled them on Friday of last week.

You're not kidding there. Me and My Mother use to have HUGE HUGE Fights over Shrimp, We DON'T buy and Seafood imports...besides the Health issues on them harvesting, packing, shipping, getting to us, I feel we should ONLY support our local seafood market and workers, Of course I live on the coast so It's important to me to do this, I feel the same about our local produce too.

Now since all this recall stuff has came about, my Mom told me 2 days ago, Hope you don't buy imports, know I'll never eat anything from China again.. Dang, took her to learn about all this stuff to say she doesn't want it ?? LOL.. but glad she said it the same.

I totally agree. We need to start to depend on ourselves. Especially, when it comes to our food!!
