just curious ... what other states have tax-free weekends?

TN just had a tax free weekend. There was no sales tax on school stuff and clothes (under $100 with the exception of computers, they can cost more). I heard that GA now has tax free days where nothing gets taxed. Lucky them! What other states have this?

If this was already discussed, I apologize ... I've been on vacation for a few weeks

We just had ours this weekend here in VA. I know that NC has a tax free weekend, too.

We don't have tax on shoes and clothes in NJ, but NY does and will have a tax-free weekend before school starts!

As a great bargain shopper, I have never seen the appeal of tax-free weekends and the opportunity to save 5%. Big whoop! Maybe for something like an Ipod or an Xbox360 that pretty much has a fixed price wherever you go......but other than that, there's better bargains out there.

MA is Aug 11-12.

It does help a little more here since our sales tax is 9.5%. It especially helps if you need a new computer. I personally didn't bother with it myself because I hate crowds.

Our sales tax is also close to 10% but that is state, county and city combined.

Is it all taxes that are not levied, or just state taxes?

We don't have a tax-free weekend in AZ.

It might be worth it for the computer but not really for the other things (especially since our school supplies everything else mentioned).

Oklahoma had their very first tax free weekend this past weekend, no taxes on clothing and shoe items under $100 each. Everything else still had tax, even school supplies. Our tax is 8.5% on everything. We needed to buy a pair of shoes, then I found some things at KMart they were having 40% off all clearance priced things, so came home with a whole bag full of clothing for $16 something.

...and no self-serve gas stations. They actually do it FOR you!

Also, I love visiting my dad in Corvallis and taking in the bottles and cans and getting the deposit back.

...and there's virtually NO litter there.

I love Oregon! I wish a lot of other states would follow their lead.

Here in NYC there is no city sales tax ever on items of clothing or shoes under $110, but I've never seen a tax-free weekend on things like computers and such.

No tax free shopping days in Indiana.
This state is always looking for ways to put more taxes on us.
