sooo. Are your kids excited to go back to school?

My 4 year old is excited to start a new preschool. The girls I watch seem to be excited as well. I think it's the new clothes and the new shoes that helps get the excitement going.lol

They had a great first day!

It was very stress-free for the entire family.

Youngest has the same teacher from last year (aah, perfect match) and oldest is in his second year of middle school, 7th grade, and isn't anywhere as nervous as he was about the big 6th grade transition of last year.

They also both just seemed happy to get back into the routine and spend more time with their friends (at lunch and recess I guess?).

Mine are excited after they went to open house on Saturday but not as excited as I am. They go back tomorrow and I am literally making lists of all the stuff I can actually get done now that they will not be home.

DS (6) can't wait to go to school. We just moved from South Dakota to Delaware about a month ago, so he want to go to school to "make new friends". The only problem is school doesn't start here until after Labor Day, so he has on looooooooooooooooooooong summer break. School got out for him May 23, in SD.....unlike here where they didn't get ut of school June 12th.

My youngest starts pre-K on Aug. 28 and he asks me every day when he gets up if he's going to school today. He is beyond excited.

My 7 year old is not excited at all and that is the fault of his teacher last year. In our state, students have to pass a test in third grade in order to pass to fourth grade. Well DS is going into SECOND grade and his teacher talked it up so much last year (every grade takes the test, but only 3rd & 5th grade have to pass to advance) that DS is scared of the test that is OVER a year away.

I can't wait for school to start so I can go to the principal and tell her what has happened. DS is a good student and loved school last year, but he's spent all summer worrying about something that won't happen for 1 1/2 years <ugh>.

We find out who is teacher is tomorrow and meet him/her on Thursday. I am praying he gets the teacher he wants -- otherwise I'm gong to have my hands full for the next few weeks (he does not do transitions very well).

Sarah........mom to Jason & Devin

Wow, this is the first year in about 9 years that I'm not preparing for school and it feels GREAT! We homeschooled since my dd was in the 6th grade and she graduated in 2004 adn DS graduated this year. I am so HAPPY!!!!! Not that they are gone, but that I dont' have to prepare for school anymore. The thought of it makes me have severe anxiety!! lol I know that if Faith stays with us till she's in school her grandparents would prefer we homeschool but I don't want to. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it!'

( If my math is off on how many years we homeschooled, I apologize for guessing, I don't have to do math anymmore!!! lol)

Are your kids excited to go back to school?

NO! They love the lazy days of summer. (But they are a lot older than most of the other kids here)

I went to register DS for school a couple of weeks ago, and asked about when school started. When they told me after labor day I shocked So I asked why, (this made me laugh) we live in Lewes...which is a HUGE BEACH town in the summer.......The reason why don't start school until after Labor Day, is cause Route 1 is so busy, it would take over 15 minutes for buses to cross over it until the Beach season is done!!!!

Some kids may be, but I'm NOT! LOL! I start back today and then the kids come on Friday. Honestly, I am excited. It will be nice to get back into a routine...I don't do well without structure! AND...it looks like I have a smaller class this year; only 25!
