Spinoff: Age appropriate dressing

The thread about fashion police mentioned age appropriate dressing and I had to share a story.
We have a guest that comes in where I work that the staff has come to refer to as "False Advertising". We just love to watch as a new male employee gets their first look at this gal.
The first thing they notice is the stilleto heels, black leather mini skirt, low cut snug top and cascading blond hair. All packaged in a 5'7" size 5 body.
Then they get to the face
This woman is easily in her 60's and time has not been kind to her face.
I am guessing that at one time she was an exotic dancer or something similar and this mode of dress has become her uniform.
It certainly draws attention but I'm not sure it's the kind she was seeking.
Now all that said, No I don't think just because you get to a certain age that you have to give up style. I just think there are things that are sexy without showing all your "goodies" (love that). What are your thoughts on this?

I'm sure she turns heads, but for the wrong reason. A 60 something woman should never try to dress 20 something. It just doesn't work. I would be embarrassed for her.

There is a 13 year old that attends DD's school and she goes to school in stilettos and she can barely walk, usually wears them with a very tight mini skirt and she's very overweight. I am wondering who lets their kid go out of the house dressed like this?

I remember back in the 70's when those mini skirts and white knee high boots were the big thing for teenagers.

Some really old gals would wear them and look awful!! They usually had bleached hair or that bad jet blackcolor. You had to wonder what they were thinking?

I have no issue with the thongs because I HATE VPL (visible panty lines)! I don't see them as sexy or inappropriate.

I hate seeing girls under age 13 or 14 in any type of heel. There is a girl in our neighborhood that at age 4 would walk to the pool in her sandals. Her sandals had 2 inch heels...easy. I just hate that. Let them be little!

LOL at the 60 year old. I doubt that get up is appropriate for hardly anyone.

7 and 8 yos in THONGS!!! That's too bad. I know sexysmurf said that she didn't see them as sexy. I understand that, but most people do! I think that is really, really sad, and the dyed hair too. I worked in a children's program and we had many young girls with dyed hair. I just don't get it. That is the time in our lives when our hair and it's color is the lovliest!!

When my daughter was about 15 and we had a 16 yo girl living with us that year, we had the "shirt check". If they raised their arms and the shirt didn't still touch the waist band, it was too short to go out in . Around the house was fine. I think that modesty for girls is so important, they need to be finding their worth in other places besides their sexuality.

What exactly is a visible panty line??? Serious....I'm not sure that I know what you mean.....is it the seam? or the panties cutting the skin in one direction or another? of the fact that you can see that a person is wearing panties?? Do you feel the same way about VBL? (visible bra lines)

visible panty lines: when you can see the outline of the panties under the pants. It is usually cutting the butt into 2 parts: leg and butt. I would rather not see that line. It is most distracting when the panties are too tight and cutting into the legs and you can SEE it. It's one area that I agree with most fashion folk on

I also don't like bra lines when the bra is visably too tight and skin is popping out around it or when someone is wearing a colored bra with light clothes. The faint outline of a nude bra under clothes doesn't bother me. I would rather that than no bra at all and saggy boobs and nipples to stare at. I guess I would rather have VPL than no panties and seeing everything under sheen pants though

Just this past weekend we saw a woman, I would say she was in her 70's. She was wearing a sun dress. The kind like you put on a toddler. The elastic across the top, no straps... I swear it was so short if the wind had of been stirring I would have seen WAY more than I care to see of her.

It is hotter than hell here right now, and honestly I very well may have wore the same thing. But I wouldn't have went out the front door to the mailbox in it even. A swimsuit cover is what I would have worn it as.

I honestly don't fuss too much over what people wear. Sometimes I'll take a second look and give my DH the 'what is s/he thinking' look but that's about it.

I generally dress very conservatively; jeans or capris with a loose fitting teeshirt.

I'm a guilty of sometimes being ... -lined, bra-lined, muffin-topped.

So I have no room to talk but I do enjoy 'people watching' and noticing things that I'll never do! Guess that's why I'm good with the 'mom uniform'!
