I have an idea I'm about to get screwed. So I have a couple of questions. Or anyone that's had tv problems and repairs.
We have an RCA 61" rear projection tv. All our problems started a couple of months ago. It started changing channels all by itself (all of these happening have scared the hell outta our 12 year old, he's convinced we have ghosts) the around the same time it started turning off by itself. Now this last Monday we were watching the Today show and it turned itself off and wouldn't come back on. Well, actually the power button will light up and you hear a popping sound then the light goes back off/ the tv turns off.
I call and found a rca repairman. Evidently regular tv repairmen won't work on rca's, so says the store we bought it at. Of course it's out of warrenty, by all of 5 months. The nearest repairman is a couple of hours away. So I'm going to be charged $90 just for him coming to look at it. Instead he says he's pretty sure he knows what's wrong it could only be 2 things. One being the microprocessor and he never said what the other was. Anyway he said he would order the part and just bring it when he comes. Saving me one service call, $90. Great. I asked while I was talking to him how much the part was, he wasn't sure he would have to call. Fine no problem. His wife calls back the next day telling me it will be some time next week before the part will be there. While I have her on the phone I ask her how much is the part. She doesn't know, he DH ordered it.
I don't want to put a lot of money into, because well I don't have it to put into it.

So my question is does anyone have a clue what a microprocessor costs? I have looked all over the net and I have to have the part # to find out the price.
Ideas? Maybe I should just keep calling back til I get an answer. Better yet maybe I should have Dh call. I hate messing with all this kinda thing.
