Red face What song did you do your 1st dance to at your wedding ?

This is always interesting to me! I love first dance wedding songs, and I like knowing what people picked.

DH and my 1st dance song was "Come Rain or Come Shine" by Ray Charles

Our other choice was "Follow You, Follow Me" by Genesis. Didn't use it, but I still love it!

Our last dance song of the night was "What a Wonderful World"

Keeper of the Stars

What's funny is that we don't really like country music BUT it was the rest of the family's fave so we went with ti. It's a nice song

What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong.

For our first anniversary he found an old copy of the 45 and had it framed for me.

This is pretty funny...was supposed to be Just the Way You Are by Billy Joel, when we got on the dance floor the band started playing Lady by Kenny Rogers we were like WTF?!??? We just laughed and danced to it anyway. Was pretty funny at the time.

We eloped so........never had a first dance......I don't think to this day, 13 years later we have ever actually danced together. When we were orginally planning a wedding we were talking doing something off the wall like Black Sabbath......

DH and I only had a small wedding and small reception so we didn't have band/music at the reception. We had a limo when we left the church and that took us to my car (that was hidden--it was brand new and I didn't want it docorated) so that we could leave for our honeymoon. As soon as my new husband cranked it up and put it in drive, AC/DC started playing on the radio-- "Highway to Hell". We died laughing and just hoped that wasn't a sign of what was to come (so far, 17 years later, we're alright! ).

"Follow You, Follow Me" by Genesis. It was supposed to be followed by another song that I can't remember because our friends payed the DJ to play "Love Shack" by the B52's!

"Forever's As Far As I'll Go" by Alabama. I'm from Long Island - not too many of my friends were using country songs so I knew it would be unique!

When I was a young teen, we went to a Polish/German wedding with a polka band. Their song was Could I Have This Dance, but it was the only song, besides polka music, that the band knew and only only with a polka feel. They played it over and over, it was hilarious!!

Anne Murray definately does it better!!! LOL

I remember being in a wedding that was sort of unusual - after the bride and groom went up the aisle, each usher was handed a poster to carry behind them that said "...Another One Bites the Dust..."

I'm glad my wedding ceremony didn't end that way.

We had Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton.

DH's a heavy metal kind of guy, so the really mushy things were out, along with the country stuff, so we went classic 70's.

I told my BF I want " Thank you for loving me" or Bed of roses. I am a huge Bon Jovi fan so we have to have a Bon Jovi song for our first dance. I tried telling him that he should talk to my dad and the two of them should see how much it would cost for Jon and the boys to perform the song live at the reception, of course they both told me to stop dreaming LOL

I don't know if I would really call it dancing but our first song was also Could I Have This Dance. I still love that song. We walked down the isle to There is Love (The Wedding Song). In two weeks we will celebrate out 24th wedding anniversary.

You say it best when you say nothing at all...
Everytime it plays on the radio or we hear it somewhere...I have convinced my husband that he needs to stop EVERYTHING and dance with me!!

Isn't it funny how the "best" wedding songs are country songs?? There is a GREAT father/daughter song out now called "I loved her first" by heartland for anyone getting married soon...

Look at the two of you dancing that way
Lost in the moment and each others face
So much in love your alone in this place
Like there's nobody else in the world
I was enough for her not long ago
I was her number one
She told me so
And she still means the world to me
Just so you know
So be careful when you hold my girl
Time changes everything
Life must go on
And I'm not gonna stand in your way

But I loved her first and I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But it still hard to give her away
I loved her first

How could that beautiful women with you
Be the same freckle face kid that I knew
The one that I read all those fairy tales to
And tucked into bed all those nights
And I knew the first time I saw you with her
It was only a matter of time

But I loved her first and I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But its still hard to give her away
I loved her first

From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
Someday you might know what I'm going through
When a miracle smiles up at you
I loved her first

beats the heck out of butterfly kisses...lol!!

We eloped. But we have 2 of "our songs".

Forever and Ever, Amen - Randy Travis
I Knew I Loved You - Savage Garden

We never listen to country music anymore (we will be married for 12 years in January) so it is interesting that one of "our songs" is country. But DH really liked Randy Travis when we got married (in fact, we are going to see him in concert on Sunday - I told DH that if we didn't go that he would regret it because he used to be such a fan of his music) so we chose that for one of our songs.

I don't think we have ever really danced to an entire song either, in the 11 1/2 years we have been married. (I have no sense of rhythm when it comes to dancing - DH can boogie just as good as a backup dancer though...)

Our first dance was to UB40's version of Elvis' "Can't help falling in love"

and our last dance was Bob Marley "Is this love"
