Spinoff: What countries outside the US have you visited?

Do we have any world travelers? I sure noticed a lot of island hoppers in the other thread....that's the life!

What countries have you visited?

Me: Canada, Mexico, Scotland, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and Israel - not one island!!

I was born and raised in France!!!
overthere, you are entitled to 6 weeks paid vacations(it doesn;t matter where you work, unless self employed!!!!)and the governement believe that every child should be going on vacation somewhere(you get vouchers for hotel ,camp ,daycamps....)
we traveled in an RV every summer....I usually chose where we went(not to hard ,we travelled 8 hours and we were out of the country!!!)
so England,Ireland(with school, that was our field trips in Junior high!!!),Belgium,Netherland, luxemburg, austria,Germ any(stuck in a flood ,had to be rescued...),Spain(who doesn;t check that the run of the bull was on the week we were there!!!!)Portugal(got our stuff stolen )Italy....
Canada: spent 1 semester in high school in 1987,wow 20 years ago already!!!and saw my first movie in English (dirty dancing!!!!)

Wow - Mataje - how awesome! My son went to France in June and really enjoyed himself. Got to visit the big sites, but the one he talked about the most was sneaking off to a bar and ordering himself a beer. I know it's probably too naughty for some, but far less naughty than I was at his age. LOL. He also went to a beach on the Riviera where there were some topless sunbathers....but he said "they were your age, Mom, so not much to look at"......

My favorite country is Switzerland (so far). My parents just returned from Russia and really enjoyed it there; said it far exceeded their expectations....

I'm fortunate in that my DH is from Holland and his entire family is still there so we have travelled a lot. Between the trip I took to Europe when I was 17 and going over with him, I have been to Norway, Denmark and Sweden, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Luxemburg, France, znd Italy. There might be one I'm missing. I've also been to Mexico a number of times, Aruba, Curacao, Tortolla and St. Thomas (on a cruise), Jamaica and Nassau. I love to travel but unfortunately have not had the time or the money in the last two years.

Mexico, Canada, South Korea, Germany, Austria, Australia, France, England, Japan, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Poland. DH was in the Army for 24 years, just retired, and we were stationed in Germany for over 5 years, we took advantage and traveled a lot when we were there, prior to 9/11. DH was then stationed in South Korea and I went to visit for a week and had a lay over in Japan, I only say the inside of the airport.

Only Canada and Denmark for me. As some of you know, DH and I were supposed to move to Denmark last summer, and even went on a house(apartment) hunting trip for almost a week. Unfortunately, since we thought we would be moving there in a couple of mos., we really didn't take advantage of the sight-seeing. Anyway, didn't end up moving there, and it doesn't look like we'll get the opportunity again. So, my list of countries will probably remain somewhat short for a while.

Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Bahamas, Aruba, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, St. Maartens, a couple of other islands that I can't remember, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong (before the Chinese took it back), England, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, France, Spain, Portugal, Gilbraltar, Tunisia, and Italy. Oh, I almost forgot Switzerland and Egypt. How could I forget Egypt. We were there two weeks after the invasion of Kuwait. Most tourists had cancelled their trips and we had the place to ourselves. It was great then, but I'm not sure I would go now.

I am impressed by our world travellers here. Guess couponing helps the travel budget. If so, I really must be doing something very wrong as I have only been to our neighbors to the north and south: Mexico and Canada. However I have been to 38 of the 50 U.S. states; so, to me, that is kind of like someone who lives in Europe and is surrounded by so many different countries.

For me, my trips have all been pleasure. A lot of places happened in each trip for the most part. Years ago we visited relative of my husband in Norway, and from there took a cruise that started in Sweden and made stops in all the countries bordering the water until you get to Italy. We also did Egypt and Switzerland and Paris in another trip. I did Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong in one trip. So there were not that many trips, but lots of countries. The islands were all on a cruise except for the Bahamas. That was a cruise but just a quick 2 night thing that went only to Nassau.

My travels have all been for pleasure. Seeing different countries and cultures has been a priority for me and I have had to quit several good jobs in order to have the time to do it. I have been lucky in that I was always able to find a good job when I returned. Many of my trips were also a combination of several countries in the same 6 - 8 week trip.
