| Getting Pregnant
I know this question is a stretch for the mycoupons boards but I figured that most of you have kids and maybe can help me. My husband and I have decided to try to start a family. I have been on the pill for ten plus years and decided that this past month would be my last. I took every pill as planned and was due to start my period on 8/21 (I wanted to have one full period then according to one of the online ovulation calculators, my ovulation days would be set to start on 9/1). The problem is that I did not get my period this month. The first time ever! I took a test and I am not pregnant so my question is does this effect my ovulation? Will I still ovulate as planned? Do I need to wait to have a period before trying or should I just go forward as planned? Will this effect determining the due date since I didn’t have a period this month? I cannot believe that after being on a regular cycle for so long that the one time I really needed the regularity this happens! Thanks. |

For what its worth, you may have had a regular cycle for so long because you've been on the pill for 10 years. After you are off it, you'll be able to see what your cycle is like without the hormone effects of the pill. I also had a miscarriage after getting pregnant right off the pill. cj/

When we wanted to have a bbay, my doc told me to wait at least three full months of being off of the pill before even trying. I was on the pill for seven months. HTH

I, too, had been on the pill for 10 years when we decided to start trying to get pregnant. My doctor told me to wait at least three months after I had went off the pill. I guess because I had been on the pill so long, it took longer than we expected. But as you can see from my username -- I had TWINS!! I think you should talk to your OB-GYN and see what he/she says. |

I am not too sure about all types of BC pills but I was on a BC pill that I took for three weeks and then was taking Injections the following 2 weeks(for infertility) and was doing Interuterine Insemination. Mine was called micro dosing so I am thinking mine was a VERY low dose or something with the bc pill. The bc pill was basically to eliminate cysts between injectible cycles. It was a PITA . I did several months that way but NONE were succesful. I would ask your doctor though for sure to find out how long to wait before trying to concieve after taking the Pill.
