In a plastic tote. When each of my siblings and i graduated my mom gave us scrapbooks from all our school years. My son is a senior this year and i'm looking forward to putting his together. plastic totes hold up well, store easily and fit alot.

Or you could just take a picture of him with each piece of artwork he brings home. Then just keep a few and get rid of the rest. If he has any paintings on large pieces of paper you can use them as gift wrap. Also if you have a wooden garage door (not a roll up one) you can tape a lot of artwork on the inside of the door to decorate the garage.

I save them in a box that goes up in the attic at the end of the school year before they get put in the box they get hung on the wall for a few weeks

I'm afraid the heat could damage and dry out the papers. Over the years I've went back and looked through the papers and thrown out again. You learn that you can't keep everything. I saw a tip once about scanning the items you want to keep and storing it on a disk. I also like the idea about taking a picture.

I, too, have a scrapbook from my schoolyears that my mom put together. I have no idea how she did it because I am trying to store a TON Of stuff, much to my DH's dismay. I have DS' treasures (binkies, clothes, priceless artwork, etc.) stored in totes, a large wicker basket that sits under our sofa table in our living room, in plastic containers that go under our bed, the list goes on and on. He's only 8. We're going to have to buy another house to store all the stuff to go in the museum that will be created when he becomes famous. |

We use a 30-gallon storage tub for our son's items. We call it his "box of special things". Inside are a bunch of odds and ends that are important to him and us like : Very first outfit he wore His baby teeth Report cards Birth certificate Photos Some schoolwork Baby blanket from my baby shower for him There is a bunch of stuff in there. It is pretty full already and he is only in 5th grade (or he starts 5th grade in September). I will probably need to purchase a second storage tub for him pretty soon. |

I used that ticky tac stuff that doesn't damage art and hang their art on the walls. They each get about 4-5 in their room and then I have 4-5 elsewhere in the house. We keep them up til another piece comes home and then they can decide if they want to switch one out or not. I keep my faves in a large plastic rubbermaid container that has a lid so each kid has one and they stack on top of each other in a closet. At the end of the year, I sit down and we choose about 10 things to keep from the year. I have one large rubbermaid box for each to keep treasures for each kid. I won't let it go beyond that. My kids are 8 and 6 and we have their first outfits, blankets, stuffed animal and a couple of small toys they liked up to this point. So, when they are older they will have one box of papers/art and one of their stuff

I have four sons, if I kept everything we'd be living in a pile of papers. we keep the really cute stuff and the special papers along with some of the projects but most of the time the rule is it has to be special and able to fit in a scrapbook and that's where it goes. I could just see saving everything they made, giving the boxes as they move out to find that they tossed it into the trash. Course could give to their wives like my MIL did, i have a stack of greeting cards back til my DH had his first birthday <he's closeing in on 40 now> but scrapbooking them cause they are from his grandparents

| I think you have to get selective on what you keep. I just kept the favorite things. When we made our move to this smaller home I gave them their stuff. Everyone was married and had children and I must say they really didn't want most of the stuff. I told them they HAD to take the stuff and do whatever they wanted with it! Just never tell me if they threw it out! I guess bottom line is our treasures are NOT our childrens treasures. I do have one of my favorite pictures that my son made framed and hanging on my bedroom wall. It is doesn't match the rest of the room . But I don't care. It has moved with us several times. He gets that one when I die |
