Owen Wilson's suicide bid

He is known for his comedies but it looks like actor Owen Wilson [Images] was feeling far from funny when he landed in hospital after a suicide bid on Sunday, August 26.

According to The National Enquirer and Star magazine, the star of Shanghai Noon and and Starsky & Hutch had cut his left wrist and taken a number of pills. A family member found him and sounded the alarm.

He was later taken to a hospital in Santa Monica, California.



According to The Enquirer, Wilson's wrist was stitched and bandaged at the hospital. Wilson was also 'detoxed'.

I heard some time ago that Wilson was a heroin addict. He has been in rehab at least once. Apparently it had been going on for some time, and was to the point that he had someone who had to shadow him when he was working on movies to keep him clean.

It is really sad to see young people falling prey to the drugs and alcohol which are so prevelant in every part of society today. I hope he gets some really good help and is able to get his life on track.

I don't get why people believe trash papers like those?

I don't read any of those papers, but his suicide attempt has been widely reported. As for his drug use and rehab stay, my d/h's friend's son was in the program at the same time.

Again, it's a shame.

He's 39 years old.

Actually, I believe that Owen Wilson is 38. His birthday is November 18, 1968.

ummm...he's closer to 39 than he is to 38.
I think the poster's point was he's not exactly "young" (like say Lilo, Britney, etc).

It's very sad if it's true. I hope that he can rebound and heal quickly and privately.

I heard on the radio today that new news states that he was having trouble with cocaine and his girlfriend (was it Kate Hudson?) wanted him to stop and he could not, she left him and he tried to commit suicide. He is in rehab.
