Ok....things are going from bad to worse for me! I am supposed to be having by boys birthday parties tomorrow....one from 12-2 and the other from 3-5 pm. We rented a $250 water slide...now it is supposed to be thunderstorms tomorrow .....THEN... I just got home from work and my airconditioner has gone out!!!!! I am supposed to have all these people over for two different birthday parties tomorrow and I have no air conditioning....OH Yeah....did I mention I live in SouthernAlabama..........it is HOT!!!!!!

I am having a melt downg and have no clue what to do....someone give me some ideas please!!!!!

I called our Homeowners Warranty and they will call me back....but probably not till Monday!!!!


UPDATE:
After worrying myself sick it all turned out great. Husband got up Saturday morning and checked the AC. A friend told him that down here in the south ants tend to migrate into the AC units and build a nest which can trip a relay. Hubby hosed out the AC real good and shot some WD40 into it and it began working once again. It worked all day until the second party was over and quit working. It didn't work again on Sunday at all and has worked intermittently today.....but I am thankful it held out for both parties. Husband did get the Water Slide Saturday morning and set it up about 10am. The first party started at 12 and wouldn't you know it.....it started pouring rain at 12 exactly. But....thankfully...no lightning or thunder so the kids played outside in the rain on the Waterslide and loved it. The adults hung out in the house (except for DH who stayed out to supervise the kiddos). It rained for about 30 minutes then we went outside and joined the kids for the rest of the party. The kids had a blast and all went well. THEN....my second son's party started at 3pm. At 3:30 it started raining (this time with lightning/thunder). We hustled the kids into the dining room.....fed them...did the cake/ice cream...let him open his presents and when he finished opening his gifts the sun was shining and the kids bolted back outside. They played on the Waterslide till we had to take it down at 5pm. So it all went well. Many kids came up to me and told me it was the best birthday party ever! I am SO glad it is all over until next year! Thanks to everyone for their support......I was a nervous wreck on Friday evening and needed the support you all gave! What would I do without my MC friends????

ohhh when it rains it pours doesn't it.. can you get on freecycle at see if anyone has an airconditoner you can use? if it rains I would do as Carrie says and have everyone meet at a local restaraunt.

Can you get your $250 back on the waterslide??

Maybe the thunderstorms will pass you by. We've been having thunderstorms here in VA but they seem to be all around us but never hit us. Keep your fingers crossed and hope that's what will happen.

If all else fails, can you call off the birthday party till Sunday? Or maybe the next weekend? Since you've spent the $250, I would imagine your funds are kind of short on birthday money right now, so it would probably cost you $$ to move it to McD's or Chuckie Cheese.

I would call all the parents and tell them if it storms, the parties are postponed till brighter weather. Hopefully the weather will hold out for you.

Please make sure that you didn't blow the circut breaker on the AC. Years ago when we had an AC at our condo it went out. We called the repair man and he felt very bad charging us $50 to come out and re set the circut breaker. That is not even something we thought of checking. I guess it was better then having to repair the unit. LOL

I would call the waterslide people and see if you can change the date of the rental...then you can still have the party at a later date.

I do hope things work out well, though, and that the weatherman is wrong! Fingers crossed for you!

Well, maybe the weatherman will be wrong! The weather here was supposed to rain yesterday and today, the local town fair started last night (3 days only) and the school parade was today, I was so afraid they would get rained out. Guess what? Not a single drop of rain either day, when the weather was predicting bad storms, a cold front, etc. It was 90 today, that was the cold front. So maybe the weather will hold out.

I think that you probably won't here from them until Tuesday being a holiday and all on monday.

You should be able to change the date for the waterslide...could you move it to Monday??

Glad to hear everything went well for you.
However, you paid $250 to rent a waterslide and the rental place didn't come out and set it up and stay with it? Our local rental place sets up and stays with the rental.
