Fergie is auctioning off her Hummer H2 on ebay, I know a lot more celebrities do this now a days, however, hers I just found funny!

Her charity of choice is Global Green USA, which is an excellent charity. My issues is that the mission statement for the charity is

and she owns a Hummer, one of the worst vehicles for the environment. Plus even if she is auctioning it off to go more "green" she isn't helping since now someone else will be driving around the gas guzzling Hummer.

That's pretty funny! Wouldn't you think she'd be auctioning off a Prius? In fact, wouldn't you think the charity would object? I guess they figure their getting the money either way.

someones going to drive it so why shouldn't she auction it off. I think its nice gesture that she is giving it up an dgiving them the profits...and this auction does bring more awareness to their cause

Its like the cigarette companies using their profits to educate ppl not to smoke. Ridiculous maybe but it does the job.

Maybe it's the 'someone will drive it around, put it to good use' vs. 'it sits in a landfill somewhere' kinda thing as it already exists. Either way it's not that great for the environment I suppose. I'm sure she's doing it though for the publicity, tax writeoff, and the fact that she just wants a newer/different vehicle and this is an all around good way to get rid of the Hummer. Of course she can afford the Hummer and a new car though so who knows. Then again maybe she is doing it for the right reason, helping out the charity and helping them gain some needed publicity so others will donate. A win-win situation for everybody I guess.

I hate those Hummer things too, but lets face it, seems like all of those 'stars' have major excess out the rear. Have you guys ever watched that Cribs show on MTV? Makes you SICK that these people live like that (well it makes me sick anyway). I am totally blown away with their amount of stuff (10 plus cars, all kinds of goodies, etc.). I am just in awe when I watch that show. I would hate to have to move any of those homes! EEK! I mean they earn their money so of course they are free to do whatever with it, but it's just amazing to me that people actually live like that. Wow.

I think I would have chosen any other charity. If she'd done it for children or animals, there wouldn't have been such glaring irony.

I agree! What would of been even better is she found a charity that might need a vehicle of that size, for hauling, of what not and just donated it. Because you know some some single guy, no kids will win the auction, it cause it looks cool, and not even car pool!!!

From the article, "Auction Cause is also donating carbon emission credits for 10 years to help offset the impact."

Maybe that's why they aren't as concerned that its a Hummer? It is kinda ironic about donating a Hummer for environment causes
