Red face 3 Or 5 Days A Week???

I too need some job advice!! I'm trying to decide whether to switch jobs or not. Right now, I work 3 - 12 hour days (usually turns into 13-14hrs) a week. Hours vary, anywhere from 6a-6p, to 9a-9p. Also take call one night a week and every 3rd weekend. I have been offered a 5 day a week position, from 6-2:30. No weekends, no call, no holidays. It is a small cut in pay. What I'm trying to figure out, is which would be better for my family? I have a 11 month old baby boy, and my 2 teenage daughters help out so much with him (putting him to bed, bathing him, etc.). But hopefully in January they will be both be taking college classes at night, and it will cut down alot on their ability to help. I do not want either of them to think they can't do something that important because of helping at home. I LOVE my off days during the week with my baby, it is so nice. It's also nice to be able to enjoy daytime TV, go shopping when the stores aren't packed like the weekends. on and on. However, I hate not getting to see my baby sometimes a day or two at a time because of working late. On the days I work I can do nothing else (no cooking, cleaning, running by the store). After working that long you are just give out! With the new job, I would always be home before 4 or so, always there at night to put him to bed. What would yall do? It is a huge decision, I've been at my current job for 6 years. Help me please!!

If it were me, I would take the small cut in pay and enjoy my family. I know that it might financially make it tough for a bit (while you are adjusting), but family time is something you can never get back.

That is just my opinion. I have been a stay at home mom for 10 years and feel that if you can be there for your kids as much as possible. it is a wonderful thing.

Please don't flame me, it is just my opinion

I myself work odd shifts. I work 2 10 hour night shifts with an 8 hour and a 12 hour day shift each week.
I have off every Friday and Saturday, and don't go to work until 9pm on Sunday. I love having a day off during the week, it's when I schedule all of my doctor/car appointments, or to have a day to go shopping.
I would hate to get up that early every day myself. You will find yourself coming home every day, rushing to get dinner made, doing dishes and cleaning up, then taking care of the baby. Then falling into bed exhausted, having to get up early 5 days a week to go to work. Your decision will have to be made on your personal preferences (early or late type of person) and your child care considerations. I know its a big decision. Good luck!
