Scary Visitor

My neighbor just called me and now I'm scared.
She told me that this moring at about 4:30 am her DH left for work. At about 5:40 am she heard a pounding at her front door. When she looked thru the peep hole all she saw was a bouquet of flowers. She thought it was weird that someone would be delivering flowers at 5:40 in the morning. She knew it wasn't her DH since he was at work. She, thankfully, didn't answer the door and she was very queit inside the house. She never had a chance to see them walk away.

This has really freaked me out. She said she was calling the police but wanted to let me know about it. I also told her to tell our homeowners association so they can get the word out too.

Anyone heard of this??

Never heard of anyone doing that but I'm glad the neighbor is ok. That would have me a little scared and worried too.

Yes, I have heard of this happening. Usually a man trying to gain entrance to a house. Not a very bright person to try this so early in the morning.

A few weeks ago someone knocked on the door, I didn't answer, figuring it was a salesman, watched out the window and saw them drive off in a black SUV which was parked backwards in my neighbor's driveway, and they went into the neighborhood, instead of leaving (we're on the way out of the only entrance/exit to the neighborhood). Then later that night found out someone on our street had their house broken into while they were gone. Not sure if it was connected.

Uhhhh, someone knocked on her door at 5AM, you post after 6PM and she is GOING to call the police. Heck no, the police would have been called and alerted to some possible freak walking through the neighborhood with flowers.

Call the police yourself and alert them of this. I bet this person has done this around town and they already know about it. They need to have awareness so they can catch this person. They may be 'scoping' out your neighborhood to see when/who is home at what time. Or maybe they are a man attempting a rape, etc.? Gosh let us know what you find out.

Yea, the times don't mesh...

I would wonder about the neighbor and if she is trying to get people worked up for some reason? Why did she wait so long to call you? Why did she not call the police immediately after this happened?

Either way, if it did happen or not, I'd get a big guard dog (or a little one, our Chihuahua scares everyone off!).

I didn't realize putting the word 'just' in my post would cause this little stir. She called me early in the morning to see if someone came to my house or if I saw or heard anything, she knows that I'm alone with 2 little boys in the morning. I JUST didn't get a chance to post it on here until later in the day. I was busy talking with neighbors and making sure everyone was OK. She did call the police and they were in the neighborhood throughout the night.

I saw someone use the same ruse on Dateline or one of those shows, although they waited until closer to 7:00 or so in the morning. Flower delivery was the method of getting the woman to open the door, though. She was killed. Think about it. You look out the window and see flowers? I know I can't wait to open the door and get to them! It's a great idea. I, for one, need to be a little more cautious and check for the appropriate delivery van before opening my door. I can admit that I usually don't.

That's so scary. That's why I never answer the door if I don't know the person or can't see the delivery vehicle. We have decorative glass panes in the doors so it's easy to see through, plus the curtains are usually open in my front room. Even with 2 german shephards, I don't take any chances and usually it's just someone trying to sell something anyway, like tree service! We don't prune our trees, except to keep them off the house and get dead limbs out. So I'm always getting tons of tree service flyers left at the door. And I always have at least 1 of the dogs outside with me and/or dd when we're out in the yard. You just can't be too careful in this day and age.

My fil was robbed at gunpoint in his own driveway when he came home from work and locked in his car trunk. Thank goodness, something scared the robber away before he got in the house. Mil was home but in the back bedroom and didn't hear/see it happen. But she was expecting fil to be getting home, so she did find him right away. We got them a german shephard after that and fil got a handgun permit and started carrying a gun. He was pretty shooken up over the whole ordeal, but it could have been a lot worse. Thank God, it wasn't.

It's become a really scary world when we can't even feel safe in our own homes. I thought I had heard of this before but it was really scary that it happened not too far from my front door. I'm still just so glad that she didn't open the door. I didn't sleep very well last night and I kept watching outside. I saw the cops drive by many times throughout the night.
I'm glad your FIL had to go through that but I'm glad he's OK.

I read somewhere online that another ploy to get women to answer the door is a recording of a baby crying. Most women would immediately go look for a baby outside their door. So scary.
