Last night we were stopped at a stoplight and hear two loud noises. It sounded like a cross btwn gunshots and an explosion. DH realized that the car behind us had been hit. We hopped out of the car to see if everyone was ok and DH called 911. It turned out there were three cars involved. The first car and the third car were SUV's and the car in the middle was a little car, and was totally crushed. In that car, was a little girl-she looked about 3yrs. old. Thank G*d she was ok! The idiot in the last car (an older guy) got out, smelling like a brewery and was stumbling around the mess. He muttered a pretty pathetic, "I'm sorry." Even though the light was red, and there were several cars stopped at the light, this guy didn't even slow down. He hit the little car, and pushed it into the SUV. DH mentioned that we didn't here brakes squeal or anything. The police were there right away, and one of the officers realized this guy's condition right away and started the sobriety test. He FELL DOWN two times!!! This guy couldn't even walk, how the hell did he think he could drive? He also had a dog in the car, so they called animal control to come get the dog, since this guy was obviously going to jail. It makes me so sick to my stomach to think what could have happened. The angels were definitely looking down on that family in the middle car yesterday. It could have been much worse. I hope this guy gets what he deserves!!!!

How horrible. Glad to hear that nobody was seriously hurt. Unfortunately the drunk drivers are on the road all the time. And chances are this man is a drunk driver fairly often. Most of the time drunk drivers get dui's and still continue to drive. I know someone who had 3 dui's in the state of Ohio. His license was suspended again and his sister worked for over a year to have it returned to him. Well a few months later he again was drunk and killed his girlfriend. (who was his passenger) He was not only totally wasted but also had drunks on him and in him. He got 4 years in jail. And his girlfriends 3 young children lost thier mom. Well he has been out of jail for a little over 2 years. And his sister is working on getting his drivers license back again for him. It looks like she will succeed also. It makes me sick. This is why I always support MADD. This idiot is my daughters father. I knew years ago he was going to end up killing someone while he was drunk. I threatened him myself that he better not drive while my dd was in the car drunk b/c if anything happened to her I would hunt him down and what was left of his life would be worse then he could imagine. Thank God my dd was not the victim.
I think we all need to step up and if we see a drunk getting behind the wheel we need to stop them. The next victim could be someone you love.

I agree, we all need to step up. Toughen the laws. Make prison time mandatory.
