What are book are you reading now?

I just started James Patterson's latest: You've Been Warned. I'm about 75 pages into it, and it is a nice easy read. I'll let you know if its' good or not.

Now I need some other suggestions for good reads!!

I am reading a couple books : Sylvia Browne "Psychic Children", Sylvia Browne "Book of Dreams". I have a gazillion books to go through. Time to stick them on ebay and get rid of a bunch of them.

I mostly read romance novels, but have a ton of different types of books hanging around the house right now.

I just finished the "Idiot Girls" Series by Laurie Notaro. I read them all this week. Idiot Girls Action Adventure Club was my favorite, but I Thought YOu'd be Prettier was great too. I loved them all, she's a hoot.

I normally read fairly weird stuff, so right now I'm reading Searching for the Sound by Phil Lesh.

I finished the new James Patterson book: You've Been Warned. I did not like it at all. It was like reading a Stephen King type novel which is not my style. My advice: get it from the library if you want to read it.

BeccaRose: I loved The Secret Life of Bees

My best read this summer was: A Thousand Splendid Suns. That is the best book I've read in a long time. I started Middlesex but then I left it in my husband's car. I might go back and try that one again. It's due at the library Monday though.

I loved Nanny Diaries. That is in my "books to keep" area in the spare bedroom. Along with all of my Sophie Kinsella (Shopaholic) books!

I recently read "The Swan House" by Elizabeth Musser and "Barefoot" by Elin Hilderbrand. I really liked both of them.

I started Peony In Love and sort of didn't like it. I didn't hate it. I wonder if I quit too soon. Peony was watching the play and the handsome man when I quit.

I liked The Quickie by Patterson. He sure puts the books out fast!! You've Been Warned was different from his regular style though -- and I really didn't care for it.

I really like the Shopaholic series, although the first book started slow. I'm glad I didn't put that one aside. I've read all of them in the series. Kinsella has some other books that are not in the series but I have not read them.

I will add The Nanny Diaries to my reading list, and some of the others mentioned above!

If you like those and have not read it..."The Devil Wears Prada", I loved that book

It's a series about an Amish family. Excellent series! I own it and re-read it every once in awhile, it's *that* good.

Sophie Kinsella's real name is Madeleine Wickham - she also does books under that name too. I have not read any (yet - just ordered one off ebay) but I am guessing they will be just as good. I think I have all of the Kinsella books.

I love the shopaholic series - just looked Madeleine Wickam up at the library and put her books under this name on hold - I never knew about this - thanks!

I read another book today. (That's 2 this weekend!) It is a brand new book called "The View From Mount Joy" by Lorna Landvik. It was a very good read. I'd recommend it. She wrote "Angry Housewifes Eating BonBons" and a few other books. Coastie, you might like this one.

Also, Jackie Collins has another new book that came out in the last few weeks. It's called " Drop Dead Beautiful" and it was a good summer read. It continues the story of Lucky Santangelo. Coastie, you'd probably like this one too. I haven't read "Lovers and Players" so I added that to my long list.

1boymom -- I didn't know about Sophie Kinsella's real name. I will look for her other books. I read the whole Shopaholic series, and enjoyed them. The first book in the series starts a little slow and then takes off. Then you can't put it down.

I loved "19 Minutes" by Jodi Picoult. Your mouth will drop open at least one part of it, Eileen66. I have Middlesex checked out for the second time from the library, but I just didn't get to it. It's due tomorrow so it's going back. I did read the first two chapters and it seems good.

I like the Mitford series too, Tammyleeb.

Thanks for all the good ideas, guys!!

I just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns, it only took me 2 days, it was a great book. I just started the Four Hour Work Week, not sure how I like it yet, I can't get into it.

I tend to read a lot of non-fiction. I am just about finished "Loving Frank", which is about Frank Lloyd Wright. Very good. I recently finished "Shattered Dreams", which was really interesting. I am next going to read "Look Me In The Eye" (about Aspergers), and am looking forward to John Grisham's new book "Playing for Pizza".

Loved "Water for Elephants" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns"!

Thanks selenav. I hadn't checked the boards in a while and didn't get a chance to respond about the Abram's Daughters Series. I love these books and cannot stop reading them. I am reading book 5 right now and will probably starte the next series that she has.

They follow an Amish family from small daughters through all of their life's trials and tribulations. The stories are intriguing, heartfelt, and heartbreaking.

I also have read many of the Shopaholic series and LOVE them. I wait and wait for them to come in at the library.
