What was your 1st concert (I know-some of us are going WAY back!)

The unfortunate problem with the Hannah Montana ticket access got me thinking - one poster was remembering their 1st concert (Duran Duran)...

My first concert ever was Rick Springfield - of "Jessie's Girl" fame. 1982...I remember it well. And I think our tickets were about 14.95 (plus a service charge - still under $20.00 though).

Anyone else care to date themselves here?

Haha! The first concert I ever went to was Howard Jones at Six Flags. It was free to get into the concerts at that time (had to stand, too) and I had a season's pass. I went by myself.
I remember I saw Mike and the Mechanics at Six Flags, too. I can't remember if it was the same night.

Well I wasn't allowed to go to concerts growing up, so about 5 years ago I treated myself and my best friend to a Kenny Chesney concert (DH doesn't do country) I had so much fun......

My first was Doobie Brothers before Michael McD ruined them. (Seen them 5 times since, they still rock!)
I saw John Denver back in the late 70s too.
The Beatles that would have been sooo cool. That was simply history

This will age me, but Jefferson Starship. It was my first concert and probably the WORST concert I have ever seen. Didn't know then that the lead singer (Grace Slick) was an alcoholic and probably could barely get through it. I actually am not a big fan of theirs, but my sister wanted to go, so I went with her.

One of the neatest concerts I have been to is U2 (have actually seen them twice in concert). This one was the Joshua Tree concert, I believe. I was living down in AZ at the time, and they wanted to fill up ASU stadium to make a music video. Concert tickets were $5!!!!!!!!

My last concert was SheDaisy. Love those girls.

Yep, this will definitely age me....

My first concert was as an early teen, and it was Big Brother and the Holding Company, with Janis Joplin as lead singer; with Lydia Pence and Cold Blood at Fillmore West in San Francisco. Yep, that is OLD....but my teens keep me current and I can still rock with the best of them and my kids even love Jimi and Led Zepplin with me and I actually like a lot of the 'now" music too!

Pantera! With Sepultura and Prong... Sepultura didn't play due to an injury and I've never liked Prong... and it sucked being way in the back but it was my first concert so I had fun anyway I've only seen a small number of "big" bands, I tend to go see locals.

I was about 11 years old in 1969 or 1970 and my brother took me to see Bo Diddly, Canned Heat, and The Grass Roots. I loved the Grass Roots at the time and didn't care about the other two. I would have loved to see the Beatles too.

Wow, feeling really old right now.

The year would be 1978 or 1979. Nashville TN's old Municipal Auditorium. The main act was BOSTON and the "warm up" band was KISS!

Wow, that's going back a ways and it was the 70's, so my memory is a little fuzzy but I'm sure it was 72ish and it was probably Bob Seger or Ted Nuggent. Both of whom I have seen many times over the years since.
The last concert was a week or so ago and it was The Outlaws.

OK.. I was just laughing at the bands (Hermans Hermits, Molly Hatchet...) and what -- no Frampton, folks? No. KC and the sunshine band yet? No Shawn Cassidy?

Then I stopped laughing when Elvis Presley was mentioned. Im not a big elvis fan, but how COOL is that... My MIL snuck out to see the Beatles in N.Y....

me? Hurm... U2 in the 80's (with the Cult) or perhaps Pink Floyd in the 80's.

Best show - $15 (I think) in 1991: featuring Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and a little known Seattle Band touring for 'Ten'.

Tom Jones with my Aunts when I was 10ish.... Then Billy Idol at 14.

Needless to say, I thought that it was a normal thing for women to throw their panties at the stage at a concert.

I was about 22 and went to see Harry Belafonte in 1965. Can anyone sing...Day O! Day ay ay O! Daylight come and he wanna go home.

It wasn't exactly a concert concert but I also saw the Mouseketeers at an amusment park sometime in the mid to late fifties with Annette Funicello. I was probably 12 or so at the time and very appalled at the size of her chest.

I saw KC and the Sunshine Band at Six Flags. Come to think of it, I also saw Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods during their "Billy Don't Be A Hero" days, and Tanya Tucker during her "Delta Dawn" days there too.

My first concert without parents was in 1980, Rush.

I saw Chicago at Summerfest (Milwaukee) in 1975. My dh saw them at The Attic (Milwaukee) in 1968.
Summerfest always had big groups. They also had groups going down. We saw Jan and Dean in a smaller stage. They sang "Deadman's Curve".

I love going to concerts, and have been to too many to count over the years, so it's kind of hard to remember all of them. According to my Dad, he took me to see my first concert when I was 4 (Elvis), but I don't remember that. The first concert I remember seeing was the Grateful Dead in 1979 (I think). I don't totally remember the year but I was only 8 or 9 so that would have to be either 1979 or 1980.

I was just thinking..

How come no one mentioned the Dead...? We saw Jerry Garcia a couple times...

No one saw Phish?

We saw the Ramones a handful of times, but never made it to CBGB's.

I believe my first one was Herman's Hermits but it might have been the Stones. To both of those, I wore a granny dress and the John Lennon glasses. Boy, am I glad no one took my picture.

First was in 1955, I saw Elvis appearing in his infamous Gold Leaf Suit. That was back in his very early days. He took ahold of one girls hand and she promptly passed out.

Second was in 1960. I saw Brenda Lee when she was 14 years old. She was still wearing Bobbie Sox at that time. It was really strange hearing that dinamic voice coming from what appeared to be a little girl.

Since then I have seen too many to count. That is except Loretta Lynn. I'll always count her as she is my all time favorite. I personally knew her brother, Jay Lee and her niece.
I will be seeing her again Oct. 14.

I guess I've really dated myself.
