Kooks on Craigslist??

I made a post on there the other day about Hannah Montana concert tickets. Today I received an e-mail from a seller of these tickets. I forwarded the e-mail to my DH at work and he told me it was bogus and not to do anything. If a miracle would happen - by someone actually having legit tickets that I could purchase - HOW would I know the whole thing was legit???

I guess this just won't happen...

TIA,
Suzanne

Unhappy

I'm a bit freaked out by some of the responses I've had on Craigslist.

One person threatned to duck tape me, put me in one of the moving boxes I was giving away for free, and mail my "a**" to Mexico. Seriously.

Another one sent a super nasty, vulgar e-mail when I didn't respond within a few hours of their e-mail to me on a different item I was giving away.

Be careful if you do decide to buy from someone. Meet in a public place, and don't give any info on where you live.

We have had a couple good experiences from Craigs list and a couple bad. I don't know if there is any way to know for sure that it is legit unless you buy them from ticketmaster.

I am seriously nervous about Craigslist now! That is SCARY!!! The worst scenario I thought of when posting was that I wouldn't be able to get tickets, and I also worried that any tickets I might purchase might be fake. I never worried that I might wind up as a victim or something! YIKES! Thanks for the warnings!!

I was looking for a futon for my son for his dorm room. I responded to several ads on Craigslist for people wanting to sell one. Out of 9 or 10 emails that I sent, I only got one response back. It's not worth the effort in my opinion.

Wow, I've only recently heard of craigslist and was preparing to list a used flute on there. I said something to DH about having a stranger come to our house and he told me if I was worried about it to meet them in public, but now I'm even nervous about posting. Maybe I'll just keep the flute!

i posted about something to give away

got weirdo emails, ignored those..

got some 'normal' email...they sent me their contact # to discuss a time/day to meet in at a nearby starbucks (which i had suggested..i wasn't comfortable having strangers come to the house...)

ok so far so good

except they sent me a fake phone #...disconnected

this happened 3 times with 3 'different' people (or so i thought lol maybe they were not all different people!!)

after having people send me fake #s 3 times i was done with craigslist...i do know others who have had great experiences but that soured me on the whole craigslist thing lol

How crazy. I too have had nothing but good experiences on Craigslist, and we've bought and sold numerous things including 2 motorcycles for $5K each (bought then sold both through Craigslist), and have had NO problems. We've been hit with a couple of stupid "scam emails", but most people with common sense can catch those..and not resepond.

Craigslist has some really creepy people on it, but I work with websites, so I know it's not the worst thing out there. I did successfully sell a fridge to a polite, if flaky, ex-Marine using an ad there. Still, I think it's more the sort of thing Dan Savage deals with than what most of us here are used to.

I have had great luck using Craigslist (knock on wood now that I said that). We sold a bunkbed, grill, bookshelf, entertainment center, and some other stuff. I got quite a few emails, and after I responded to some, I never heard back from the person. But, it all worked out okay - I made sure my hubby was home when the people came by to pick up and pay. Oh yeah, I made sure to tell them I only took cash.

I have never purchased anything from Craigslist, but than again, I am trying to get rid of junk - not bring more into the house!! :O)

Luckily only good transactions from Craigslist. I love it.
