Does anyone have any experience with the coast guard reserves? Do they have to do a year overseas like the army? ARe they in Iraq? I really don't hear much about them.

I don't know about their current activities, but a few friends where in the CG Reserve several years ago and said that their "Boot Camp" was tougher than even the USMC....

I'm thinking and I could be wrong that their primary mission is to protect and patrol the waters around and in the US.

My husband is currently active duty Coast Guard. While I don't know for sure if the Reserves go to Iraq, I do know that we currently have active duty members there or in the surrounding area as a support system for the other branches (mainly support to the Navy).

If you have someone who is considering joining the Reserves, have them talk to a Recruiter to get all his/her questions answered. They are really the best source of information.
