Have you seen The Prestige? Excellent movie. I heard Fracture is good as well.

How about "Facing The Giants". It's about a losing high school football and their turn around. It is a Christian movie. My 2 ds (12 & 15) watched it and loved it. They didn't think they would though.

Fracture is good! Anthony Hopkins in his typical sociopath character. We enjoyed it.

We also enjoyed The Last King of Scotland. I know, old, but we just got around to it. I had heard Edi Amin's name alot when I was a kid and didn't know much about who he was. It was very interesting from a historical point, but Forrest Whittaker is awesome.

Blades of Glory is good as long as you are prepared for Jon Heders "Napolean" character and Will Farrells crude humor - we laughed a lot through it.

Also, Wild Hogs is funny, too.

I saw a movie recently on dvd, and it is honestly one of the best movies I have ever seen. It is called The Illusionist, with Edward Norton and Jessica Biel. Great storyline that keeps you guessing throughout.

The Condemned with Stone Cold Steve Austin was good for a reality show type movie.
We are Marshall
Lucky you is out but not sure if its any good, Drew Barrymore and Robert Duvall (he's so sexy)
Gracie (not sure if this is a true movie or not, about a girl wanting to play on a boys soccer team, its okay)
I would suggest Wild Hogs....I have never laughed so hard.

We watcched Lucky You the other night and I was disappointed. It had a good story line but was weak. And Drew Barrymore can do so much better.

If you like Mysteries/Suspense:

We recently rented 'Perfect Stranger' (Halle Berry, Bruce Willis).
Usually we can figure out the who's and the what's but the ending really surprised us.

I agree with Perfect Stranger. My fiance was sure he knew who it was, in the end he was wrong!

I'm so sad DH and were supposed to be watching all these movies today, and he had to go to work, and won't be home till after midnight.....and of course full week schedule during week......

I did go ahead and watch perfect stranger.......I couldnt' believe it! I guessed when they did a few flashbacks, but once I saw her friends apt.....I though that was it.....If you haven't seen this movie.....It was Good!

Thanks for all the recommendations!

The Illusionist and The Prestige are very similar. I thought The Illusionist was MUCH better, but DD thought The Prestige was. Blades of Glory was crude and funny.

This is a great thread - I always have a hard time picking out a good movie, now I've got some to look for.

DH and I watched Premonition with Sandra Bullock. I'm not sure how recent it is, but I really liked it.

My sister and her family just watched The Last Mimzy and said it was really good. I've got that on my "to rent" list too.

We watched Georgia Rule last night. It was good. Jane Fonda, Felicity Huffman & Lindsay Lohan. It was similar to On Golden Pond - Jane Fonda seems to like those troubled family relationship movies. We enjoyed it.

One that surprised me that we watched (we ordered it from NetFlix), was The Five People You Meet In Heaven. It was really good. Jon Voight was the main character. I highly recommend it.

Just finished watching a couple more DVD's that were released today.

Knocked Up - mediocre (typical one-night-stand movie) - Definitely NOT FOR KIDS AROUND!!!!

Next - with Jessica Biel & Nicholas Cage - this was very good. I couldn't wait to find out what was happening next (Romance/Action/Drama)

We did watch the Illusionist and the Prestige....they were on some fo the movie channels, while they were both good, I thought the Illusionist had a better story, I thought the Pretige was a bit far fetched, but not bad.....

I have heard good and bad things about Next, glad to hear another good review on it...I've been wanting to see it, I really like Nicolas Cage, but some of his movies over the past few years haven't been so great!
