heres the story from the hospital web site Welcome to our CaringBridge site. It has been created to keep friends and family updated about our loved one. Lon and his family were in a house fire Friday morning around 1AM. He, along with his wife and step son, is in the hospital with burn wounds and smoke inhalation. Be sure to read the latest in the journal and leave any messages for any of them in the guestbook. If it weren't for my step-sister, all three of them would be dead now. Their house started on fire around 1am this morning. My step-sister was up, felt the floor shake and figured it was one of our dogs... Then she started smelling something funny and opened the door to the basement. When the smoke poured out, she knew it was a fire and woke up the parents. My step-mom went downstairs to look for the dogs, and my dad got my step-brother while my step-sister went to the neighbors to call 911. No one answered the door. When she got back, my step-mom and her son were collapsed on the porch. She had to force the door open, pushing her mom with it, to get to her brother, then dragged both of them out onto the lawn. My step-mom woke up temporarily and asked where my dad was... he hadn't made it out yet. My step-sister went back in and found him in the kitchen(? i think) and started dragging him out by his leg... His other foot caught on something and sprained his ankle, so she had to stop to unhook him, and then continued dragging him outside. The neighbors finally showed up and helped, also calling the ambulances. update I visited everyone yesterday afternoon, immediately after I found out about it. Lon was in much better condition than I had heard. He no longer had a breathing tube, but could not quite talk yet due to the damage smoke inhalation caused his throat. He has some burns on his left ear and shoulder. Everyone's eyes were burned, and I have not yet heard to what extent or if any sight loss will occur. Faith's hands were very badly burned, along with her eyes. When I saw her, her throat and face were very badly swollen, but the swelling should go down in the next couple of days, and the breathing tube can come out. Bobby is also quite swollen, though his burns not as severe as Faith's. His fingers were individually wrapped, and though his face and throat were also swollen, he seemed energetic, waving to people and motioning to communicate. I was woken up today hearing that Lon is back in critical condition, though stable, due to some heart problems that have occurred. I will update again after I talk to the doctors and nurses later.
