I saw the pics of what happens on tv. This happened to my grand nephew. My niece and her family were at her mil's. The mil's friend had given her a crib for when her grandchildren came to visit. They were all hanging out and the baby was in the crib in another room. They heard a weird cry from him on the monitor when my niece got to him he had fallen through the bottom of the crib. Some piece had just broken! Scary stuff. Thank God for monitors!!! I'm glad they recalled these. You just never know!

The article I read in yesterdays newspaper indicated that people were putting the crib together incorrectly with the side turned upside down.

This is what I heard too. If the adjustable side of the crib is put in upside down, it leaves a gap where the child's head can become wedged in.

The pictures on the website that the OP linked to shows what you are saying. Unbelievable that this could happen.

I just now looked at the recall site. I'm not trying to offend anyone, however, I've got an observation. Are all cribs made as cheaply as this one with plastic fittings? I haven't had a baby bed in 9-10 yrs and was just wondering.

I don't think they are made cheaply, they were installed incorrectly, that's the problem. Not what it's manuf. with.

My crib doesn't have hardware like that. The drop down slides into the actual wood.

actually, the one my nephew fell through was plastic and it broke, that's why he fell through. I don't think it was the installation.
