I have not--metmy DH the normal way---drunk in a bar-lol..... My big brother met his wife online though. He lived in Texas, she lived in Australia. They talked for two years online. She finally came to the states and they got married-it still took 9 mos. for Australia to let my brother enter that country. And now, sadly I must state-they are getting divorced. No kids, odd souls.... |

I met my husband online in 1997. I was just starting my divorce from my ex. I decided to browse the Love@aol ads just to see what was out there in the world of dating when I stumbled across and ad that headlined "SuperDad needs Wonderwoman". It kind of made me laugh and I wrote to him and told him so. We started chatting online, then we progressed to phone calls. 2 weeks later we met in person. We moved in together 3 months later and married 3 months after that. We both feel meeting online let us know each other from the inside out rather then the other way around. Gordon has 2 daughters and I have 3 daughters and 2 sons. We meshed as a family from the beginning. Right now our kids are 24, 20, 19 (his), 18, 17 (his), 16 and 15. We are raising our 21 month old grandaughter together now.

how interesting - I had no idea there were so many matches from the internet. I'm curious - one of you said you saw an 'ad' in an online dating site - what about the rest of you - was it on something like 'Match.com' or somewhere else on line?

I met my hunny in a talkcity flirt chat room. It's funny because I wasn't looking for anything. He lived in California and I in Texas. After chatting 7 months, he flyed me to California and then a month later came to Texas and we decided right then that he would move to Texas. I fell in love with him before I ever knew what he looked like. He moved to Texas in 1999 and we married in 2003. After an awful marriage the first go around and my ex telling me no one would ever want a woman with three children, here I am living happily ever after! sandy |

We've been married four years, and known each other for six or seven. I visited California to meet a few people I spoke to regularly online, ended up really liking one, and married him a year later. I don't think either of us originally had romantic intent.

I met my DH online through chat boards. Although, it did turn out we went to the same highschool for 1 year but didn't know it until after we met...there was a get together of a bunch of people from the chat board and he looked familiar and that's when we found out about the same HS. I was about 17yo when I first met him and we kind of dated off an on several years after meeting...we had a group of friends that all hung out together for awhile and then we lost touch. We hooked back up about 11 years ago and have been married 10 years now. peapie |

My DH and I did not meet online, but my DH met a guy online, Jake, who he has become great real life friends with. When I met Jake's wife, it was an instant friendship! We go out to do random stuff about twice a month and Jess (Jakes's wife) gave me some GREAT crockpot recipes! ok, not what you are really talking about, but thought I would share!

my hubby to be and i met online nine years ago, i had put an ad in the old excite personals just to find someone to talk to, not really thinking about romance because i was still kinda hung up on my ex at the time, i was real matter of fact saying i was a single mom and a bit on the "fluffy" side and if u had a problem with that don't bother talking to me. lol! i was so naive back then. i had also stated that i didn't like skinny guys and was in love with stone cold steve austin, he wrote to me, told me he was often mistaken for stone cold and he was far from skinny! i dismissed him as anything other than a friend because he is nine years younger than me but to skip ahead, we have a son together and have lived together forever, it seems, and will be getting married next month, so hooray for the internet!

My sister met her husband online through Christian Cafe, a match site for Christian singles. They both lived on opposite sides of Va., (he was in VA. Beach, she in the mountains). The really amazing thing is that once they started chatting, she found out he and I graduated from high school together! (She graduated 2 years later) Of course, if they had tried to get together in high school, they would've had nothing in common. So we didn't have to worry about anyone she met online being some weirdo (well, he is, but that's another story, ha! She's on these boards so I'm surprised she hasn't already responded to this.) They live in Va. Beach now and have been married for 3 years. It's really amazing how things work out!

| The only reason I went on Christian Cafe is because you made me! I was trying to prove my sister wrong, and show her that even on Christian single sites you can't trust anyone. I told her it would never work, but she aggravated me so bad I finally gave in. Boy, was I proven wrong! We just started talking just to see if we knew who each other were. We had no intentions of getting together. From the start we were finishing each other's sentences, and realized that we had everything in common. After a little over a year of driving back and forth across the state to see each other, we were married. I'm not sure if I would've trusted someone that I didn't already know. It would've been a bit more awkward I'm sure. |
