I find this odd, too. I think things have actually gotten better. I frequent this board now more then I ever have. A lot of it has to do with this "Cafe" board. It is a fun and informative board. Sorry to see you leave.

See...I just hate it when people do this attention seeking behaviour! You want to go? Then go...and "anyone that matters" knows how to find you, and probably knows why you are so bent out of shape.

I think the heavy handed moderation at this site is driving a lot away. You cant seem to discuss anything vaguely heavy or God forbid mention a body part, without it dissapearing...POOF!

Say what!!! Have you read the posts on this board? I don't think I have ever seen such leniency anywhere. We've talked about everything from sexuality to death to taxes and back. I am a moderator on a diet board and while they are pretty open, i think way more gets discussed on this board.

Sorry to see you go. I personally enjoy the boards and find a lot of great support from the fellow posters. Everyone thinks differently, so chances are you will find opinions varied amongst the group. The cultures vary. The experiences each person has encountered in lifetime can open your eyes to assorted views.

Just pointing out a small factoid that people seem to forget way too much:

The person that STARTS a thread, can delete it as well just by deleting their own post in it.

Of course, members aren't going to know that unless the person that deleted it speaks up. Most don't, so it's assumed that moderators automatically do it.

Believe me, that's not always the case and far from all the times it's assumed.

I never asked if we can say publicly if a member deleted a thread, but these assumptions end up at times "tarnishing" the wrong people. I personally don't think it's anyone else's business if a member decides to delete a thread they started, but by the same token, other people shouldn't have to take the heat for it.

Perhaps you are forgetting that we recently had several threads removed because the board management decided that they were not family oriented. These topics were not sexual in nature, but about female issues and valid questions. Also I know personally of several members here have left because they felt like they were being attacked by other posters on this board that "seemed" to be a favorite of the current moderator. Those posts were allowed to stay while posts by others were poofed.

Thanks for listening Greg.

I agree that there is a lot of favortisim here but I dont see that is any reason to make the attention grabbing "BYE" post. If you want to go, fine But no need in posting a BYE to the folks who you must not want to keep in touch with.
I hate to see any member leave but its their choice to stay or go. Lots have left and never are missed. Lots have left and ARE missed.
Folks come and go on these boards every day.

lol several? Only after a few martini's, maybe.

One, maybe two. As for "female issues" there's plenty of boards dedicated in depth to discussion and education of such issues. Anyone can Google. Why is it so imperative it MUST be discussed here? (On a side note, there isn't much in the way of topics that bother me at all, but since the dead horse was beat some more...) I'm sure there are other forums that allow any type of discussion or wording...right? Agree with refundsrus, if that's the best you have to say about it, those other forums might suit you better.

I'll never understand why people have to make a big announcement that they're leaving. If you have friends, you can email or PM them, why the big scene?

I guess my point is why CAN'T it be discussed here? As far as I know we are all (pretty much) mature women with a few men on the side. I thought the whole idea here was that we could discuss topics of interest to US as long as it is conducted in a mature manner. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Because they don't want it discussed here. Why can't that be enough?

I look at myself as an adult. I don't have to know every single solitary reason for every single solitary thing. It's not MY board, it's not mine to run as I see fit, it's someone else's. I can either accept that it's not allowed for whatever reason was given (I believe the reason was family board or something of that nature) and I can drop it, or I can move to another board. Anything else ends eventually ends up looking like a grudgy temper tantrum. I know when children don't stop going on about something or aren't getting their way, aren't they instructed to stop, or punished in some way? So why can't adults follow the example?

It's a BOARD for pity's sake and its ONE topic, I think at some point it just becomes harping because a person can't have their own way. The better question I think is why can't it be let go? It's ONE topic. If a person has that much of a burning need, they can find those discussions elsewhere.

I think a lot of varied and diverse discussions go on here and I enjoy reading them. So what if sex or sexual topics can't be discussed. I don't mean this in a bad way, but maybe it's time to get over it already. It's a good board in my opinion, which is why I stay. I puzzle over the folks that gripe about the same things over and over but just can't seem to go to happier pastures.

Except Val.

I personally like it here - in fact, I check in quite a few times a day.

If you are unhappy - than you should leave. I don't know what exactly has changed that you don't agree with, but no one says you have to participate in every discussion.

Good-Luck & we will see you when you return!!

Val made a post this morning, someone responded to it, I was getting ready to read the post and poof it was gone. I don't know what the post said only Val and the person that responded to her know that information. Mods are saying that they did not delete it, so Val must have.

anyone remember that HeeHaw song? Boy, am I old!
I have really been having a good time on these boards lately. It seems there is once again a cohesiveness that we lost a couple of years ago. I think Addison is doing a great job, and really going above and beyond. I think the Buddy Packages were a great idea, and I think lots of us are starting to bond. We lost a lot w/ the Family Board of the past, but it is coming back quite nicely IMO. VAlerie, if you are still reading the posts *after* you've said good-bye (kind of like hanging out at your own funeral), I must have missed the memo. I don't have your email addy, and I think I matter a HELL of a lot. Sorry you feel the way you do. See you in two years-if we're lucky!

Along those same lines, the favoritism runs rampant, and when you try to say anything, it gets deleted or edited. Happened to me just today, in fact.

Here's a link to a thread on how to teach your DD to insert a tampon Sensitive Question for the Ladies with a Teenage DD

this doesn't bother me, nor does any other discussion, BUT, if this was allowed, why was the thread about the Instead Menstrual cup deleted??? There is no consistency.

And, Mallerie (alter ego of someone, I'm sure), there IS a board where you can say WHATEVER you want, AND, you don't have to use code letters in your signature line

I don't know what the post about a menstrual cup was about but it sounds pretty gross to me,lol. Give the moderaters a break, they do the best they can,and nobodys perfect. How would any of you like the job of being a moderater? Not me! Thats a tough job !

I know there is. If I wanted to discuss such issues, or talk like a trash mouth who can't form more than a four letter word, that is where I would go to do so. Plus, if a place was such a big slice of heaven on the internet that I had to make sure anyone saw each time I posted, I'd probably stay there.

Eureka! That just couldn't be easier.

I've been a member of a few boards, I don't seem to have problems anywhere I go, with any rules or any board. I accept or I move on. It might just be my opinion, but when someone has issue after issue after issue, that says a lot more about the person than about anything else.

Down here on the farm the weather gets messy
Laying around with nothin' to do
When you went away, you took my cow Bessie
I miss her darling, more than I miss you

You took off your leg, your wig and your eye glass
And you should've seen the look on my face
I wanted to kiss, I wanted to hug you
But you were scattered all over the place

Chorus:
Where, where, are you tonight?
Why did you leave me here all alone?
I searched the world over,
And thought I found true love.
You met another and
Phht! you were gone.

I know that you loved me, here's my way of knowing
The proofs hanging out right there on the line
When I see the snow and feel the wind blowing
Your nighties hugging them long johns of mine

The noises you made at our supper table
Your habits, my dear, were surely absurd
But how many times do I have to tell you
Soup is a dish to be seen and not heard

Chorus:
Where, oh where, are you tonight?
Why did you leave me here all alone?
I searched the world over,
And thought I found true love.
You met another and
Phht! you were gone.

Remember you phoned me a-sobbin' and cryin'
The dog bit your maw, and drug her around
You said she looked pale and thought she was dying
I said "Don't worry, I'll buy a new hound."

I had six kids and you had eleven
And we had a boy, and they grew like flowers
I wish you'd come back, without you ain't heaven
'Cause your kids and my kids are beatin' up ours

Chorus:
Where, oh where, are you tonight?
Why did you leave me here all alone?
I searched the world over,
And thought I found true love.
You met another and
Phht! you were gone

I searched the world over,
And thought I found true love.
You met another and
Phht! you were gone...

Why did I think that was from Rowan and Martin's Laugh In?

Love this board. Enjoy all of you guys.

I've been around FOREVER - dating back to YFB - I have NEVER appreciated this board more than I do now, and I am more than happy with our current diverse group of posters/friends/acquaintances/lurkers.

So, best of luck to the ones who leave. Hope they find what they're looking for on another board.

I'm happy here among all of you guys - you all "matter" to me!

LoL You can say what ever you want but you get banned if you don't say enough.

Like you said it is amazing and wonderful at the same time that this post brings out all the lurkers. I think the MODS are doing a great job.. and you have to realize that most of them get NOTHING in way of compensation for all that they do.. They do get a few Kudos but that is all.. and I am betting it is a time consuming job. Way to go mods! I have been a member here for a year now and I have seen the tides turn and turn again.. but I love it and will continue to enjoy it.

Like I tell all the drama queens in msn groups.. if you are gonna leave don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!

Would that be anything like the rule here that you cant post on the Cafe unless you have a post count of 25?? Seems to me that both the other board and the Cafe just want you to be active. They dont really care what you post, as long as you post something.

I guess I dont see the drama in this that some do. I post here and have for years and when the mood strikes me or I feel I have something to add, I post. I will continue to do so. Seeing how this is a free to the public area, and even if it wasnt, I did pay my $20 forever ago.
I post on the other board that people are talking about too and I feel that I can put together a sentence with more than just four letter words. I also feel that on that other board since it is allowed and if I feel the need I will swear about my rotten stinking day or the fact that I have another test in school. I am an adult and the use of swear words do not bother me.

And to Val (if she is still around) who started this post and it really is about her leaving.... I just wanted to wish you the best.

IMHO, the 25 post rule was undoubtedly well-intentioned, but I think missed the mark a bit - perhaps it's time to repeal it. Just like in real life, you try things and sometimes they don't work out and you learn from it. But thankfully, most people don't dwell on others mistakes....what a sad world that would be.

NO BIG DEAL, Addison!!! I am sorry if I offended you! Don't beat yourself up over it..... I do think it's a good idea for everyone to read and contribute to as many of the individual boards on MyCoupons as they have interest in.

Difference being here, you can still look if you don't have anything to say. Or you are able to post in other areas.
