New Boards?

Please take a second to vote for the new board (if any) you'd like to see here at MyCoupons. If you don't see one you would like and want to suggest another... Just post a reply and let me know.

I see folks voted for the YFB but what's the difference between YFB and The Cafe? Isn't this pretty much it?

Or the virtually anything goes board? The only difference between those two and The Cafe is just the name, really.

I love the ideas of a vent and H&F boards though!

I'm thinking The Cafe, Vent and Virtually Anything Goes are the same...

I see no need for the Your Family Board when we already have The Cafe.

I would vote to add the Health and Fitness Board except that we already have so many boards that I can't get to them all and it will just be one more board for the mods to have to sort misplaced threads from The Cafe to.

So, I vote to keep things the same...

I voted to keep it the same. The cafe can virtually be all of them if we let it be as anything goes.Yes, I'm lazy and don't like to scroll down a HUGE list of boards trying to find the one I want to go to .

I view the Cafe as the Family Board, Vent Board, Fitness Board and Anything goes board LOL I don't think there would be enough interest to sustain a fitness board. A lot of times, fitness boards are places to swap recipes for certain diets so those would most likely be moved to the cooking board. Best to keep it as is

I'd like to see an adult board for all members to post. I think the forum needs more variety, like one stop shopping, one stop posting. I rarely come here anymore, but maybe I will start. Seems things are changing in the right direction.

I voted Do Nothing, as I feel The Cafe also is a "Family" and a "Vent" board. I remember when Your Family Board was shut down and don't want that to happen with The Cafe.

Other than the health & fitness and being allowed to talk about anything we want, all the other choices are already here in The Cafe

I vote keep it the same. Since the Cafe is back it pretty much covers all the boards suggested. I really did miss the family board when it was gone. So glad the cafe is here to take its place.

BRINGING BACK THE FAMILY BOARD IS AN OPTION NOW?? You screwed us out of it once even though we begged and begged for you to leave it as it was..That board was what we wanted here but that didn't matter then.. We lost A TON of long timers from here that never came back. Why bother.. We don't need anything else for you to hold out like it's a trophy! Why change a thing now.. This is how YOU wanted it ...

I completely understand why they took away the family board the first time.It had turned into a breeding ground for hostility.I think they did the right thing. And hopefully we can keep any future family orientated board in a more pleasant and friendly nature.

I guess that's been forgotten about dollydeal.

Maybe some people think that mc admins woke up one day and said "Let's get rid of the your family board for the heck of it!".

People make the board. People made that board a nasty, biting place. It needed to be gone. When a board starts needing 24/7 down to the minute babysitting because grown-ups, adults, can't control themselves, that's for the birds.

This board has managed to stay away from that. Let's hope it can continue and stay the new and improved your family board.

We USED to have this board on the premium boards--it was the biggest forum and liveliest board here at MC...then it was deleted.

We still have a Debate board on the premium boards, but we are so moderated, we aren't allowed to debate anything, therefore no one posts on it!

It seems the $$ we paid years ago, was for NOTHING--and that's really sad.

We used to have Dinner & a Movie forum for those who paid the $20, and other things like email and webpages--those were taken from us too.

A REFUND would be nice, but I won't hold my breath.

Wow, I've been here a long time and am very intrigued about what goes on behind the scenes... I kind of like my low profile anonymity and think that perhaps MC could consider doing away with the premium boards since no new members are allowed in there... or are they? Just to show how much I know!!! LOL.

I would not expect a refund. There was probably a clause (that you agreed to) in the 'contract' when you joined saying if changes were made, they were part of your membership agreement... legal mumbo-jumbo.

That was a way to fund MyCoupons. I believe the current way has something to do with all the linking to key phrases .....and the changes in people's online deal posts to make them click thru crediting links....and bringing back users and the level of controvery that they thrive on. Gotta pay the bills somehow...

oh without a doubt, it was a way to fund mycoupons ... but it wasn't too long after we paid that they started taking away the boards that we paid for. We used to have a whole set of different kinds of boards, that are now non-existent, and services that are non-existent.

I seriously was not expecting any money back--but the services and boards would be NICE.

It really is too bad that they renegued on the membership agreement.

The perks didn't seem like enough to draw me in. I felt like the money was more of a donation to MC to keep the boards open and at that time, I was moving and so didn't even know if I'd ever be back to MC or not.

But, if nothing else, you can feel good in your heart that you had a part in keeping the boards open. I believe that at that time, they really were close to closing down completely so thank you for your part in keeping that from happening.

But back on topic

It would be nice to see the following boards reappear here--as they were very active, and quite informing:
(all this knowing that if you don't want to read these boards, then you aren't forced to do so...and knowing that some topics are not appropriate for children)

The Adult Board -- topics were of sexual nature, no graphics or pictures.

The Dinner & Movie Board -- talk of the latest movies, complete with mc member reviews, and great places to eat.

The Debate Board -- this board is about debates--not complaints

The Health & Fitness Board -- no explanation necessary.

Political Board -- with elections on the horizon, and while this can be extremely heated, discussion of the various candidates.

Would I want to see YFB back again? Absolutely NOT!! It was a scary place to participate in when it was up and running--I seldom partook in the YFB in my early years of being a member of MC...it literally felt like you were being held to a bonfire sometimes.

Yeah, about as long as it takes to log out of alter-ego account and into the other.

I find it really funny how you make this comment with rolled eyes, yet, 99% of your posts, "mallerie" are negative and offer nothing positive to the boards. Exactly WHAT purpose did your post here serve??? Other than giving CJS the chance to slam you for clearly being an alter ego. For that, I thank you BOTH!

Quite frankly, what's wrong with a healthy debate??? I think some people on the boards get offended and upset a little too easily. What is wrong with someone voicing their opinion in a mature manner??? I'm willing to take bets on the fact that The Cafe sees more traffic when there is something debatable going on. If you're looking for a Stepford Wives' board, "mallerie" , why not go start your own??

On a side note, just an observation of mine, but, your name has a STRIKING resemblance to a poster here that, if you take the beginning of her LAST name, and the end of her FIRST name, you could easily come up with "Mallerie". hmmmmm.......

lol, uhhh, that's not how I took it. But if he/she meant me, that's fine, my feathers aren't ruffled.

I've been happy with the way things are set up here. I don't recall it being me that had to run to another board or to start another board to get what I was looking for. Even if I did feel that I needed to go to or start another board, all bets are on that I would manage to keep myself there. If I would say that I wasn't coming back, I'd manage to you know, keep that word.

Hmmm ---- "Mallerie" could have been come up with a lot of different ways. It could me my first name, my middle name. The name of a pet or friend. It could have been formed by parts of a couple other names put together.

But by all means, make sure you bring up the way that might stir up the most controversy and drama. I'm certainly not surprised, I've come to expect it from a certain few. That's fine, that's their way of doing things. It not me that reflects on. But you're entitled to think what you wish, just like me.

no new boards--just back off of the moderation and treat the posters like adults.

Just a thought......how about a board for those who have children who have special needs or issues?

I think that is a good idea and could be educational for those who don't have children w/special needs or other issues. I think we could all learn something and have a better understanding of what people go through.

A board for special needs issues would be informational and valuable but not sure that MyCoupons is the place for it. ...i.e. would the administrators feel that it was related to the MyCoupons mission or subject area.

I like the way it is all in one place... The Cafe.

I don't notice posts getting moved around as much as they were when The Cafe first opened...???

For example, about 6-8 months ago, I asked for advice twice about things (ie wrinkle creams! LOL) and the posts were moved to another board and then get lost because no one visited the other board? or because I just forgot to look? I never got my answer... but the SMILE lines are deeper then the WORRY lines!!!
