Do you log in here?

Do you log into MC everytime you come to this board? Or just lurk? I have noticed that there are some people who log in, yet very rarely post. I am talking about only posting about once every 5 months or so?

Why log in if you are not going to post? I usually log in to check and see if certain members are online or not.

I've been on a lot today but just recently set up my browser (Mozilla Firefox) so that every time I close it out, it deletes all of the previous session's cookies -- thus logging me out. Prior to that, I probably looked like I was *on* all the time because I have cable internet and it is *on* all the time (I guess that is how it would appear to others???).

Maybe that is what happens with a lot of other users who are not necessarily lurking but whose internet is *on* all the time???

I stay logged in all the time. You never know when I'll see something I want to reply to. I'm a SAHM and have DSL so I just let it run all day with MyCoupons in a window at the bottom. I just refresh everytime I sit down.

I don't bother logging out. I have a very limited amount of time to check boards which I belong to during the school year. It saves me time.

Why log in if you are not going to post?

I don't know in advance if anything will catch my fancy for me to post a reply. If there is anything controversial, I usually do not respond, as I don't have the time or energy right now to keep up with it and defend my position.

I usually log in to check and see if certain members are online or not.
Who cares who is online. Post if you want to. Send p-mails if you want to keep up with them

Same with me. I'm always logged in. And as many times a day as I'm here I probably look like I live here, lol.

Wow. All I did was ask a simple question and someone went off on me. They also left me a comment. I apologize for posting something that made some question my intentions/purpose for coming here. Now I know why I seldom post. The comment was made that I could be a stalker? Do people really do that? Stalk others on the Internet? I might be a bit naive at times. Sorry to have created a problem. I will go back to being quiet.

Why would anyone give you red bars for that question? I didn't see anything wrong with it.

Well. I think not a stalker, but a troll. There are several trolls here, I think the person giving you the red bar was confused. Aren't people great?

It is green now and I'm sure that many more will come out and give you green. Don't let the actions of one user get you down... Over all, we are a friendly group.

As someone on one of the horrendous eBay message boards told me when I first started posting and got lambasted and accused of being a troll the FIRST time I ever went in one of those rooms... "remember that the words are only pixels on a screen, don't let them ruin your day"

I have forever appreciated that person for helping me to relax...

Please keep posting!

Yes, there are some crazy people that will stalk others.I have had a stalker for amost a year now.
There are some boards on other forums I stay logged into just to have the advantages of the control panel that lets you view things the way you like them to be displayed. And I will rarely post there.I will be just logged in for the advantages.I'm sure a lot of others do the same.

I, too, wondered why the red bar when I first opened the post.

It is also strange that someone with only 76 posts to their name is the first one making a comment about the red bar.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the question being asked.

But, to answer other questions posed here, yes, there are internet stalkers--which is fine until it starts going offline, like my former mc stalker...when they show up at your house or daughter's school...THEN it becomes a problem in a huge way.

For this thread, with the original question, from me you get kudos--try to have a good day.

I noticed the red rep points, or lack there of, but, didn't want to say anything......those threads tend to go down hill pretty fast.

I seem to stay logged in as well, as I came to the computer to look some things up, and noticed a reply to a thread I had posted to,so I clicked on the link. Come to find out, I was still signed in I closed out the sight when I left, but, I guess I didn't sign out??? I'm not sure why I was still logged in.

As for the red rep points, and the comment, I wouldn't really worry about it. If you let things that people say to you on-line bother you, that's not good. I've gotten neg'd before, and really,it doesn't bother me. I don't base my life on that, that's for sure.

If you want to post a question, do it. If someone thinks it's that bad, they are free to neg. rep you, or report. Just take it with a grain of salt, and carry on.

Said someone is me. Why would it be strange for someone, anyone, to notice a redbar and make a comment, much less be the "first" when the post wasn't offensive? Right back at you, I find your comment stranger than strange.

How many posts a person has, has nothing to with anything at all.

Agreed, there was nothing wrong , hence my post.

And just for the record, I wouldn't have even the whopping 76 posts except that due to the mc brilliance when I joined they made a new rule that you had to have 25 posts to post on cafe. So review my posts, I have some in there that were just to get to 25. So now you can talk about something else.

As dreamscapes said, I say logged in unless I have to clear out my cookies. I pay no attention to number of posts, reputations, etc. I just come here for fun and sometimes some unique info.

My suspicion is that unless you're actually browsing the site, you won't show as online. By the power of cookies, I am always logged in. Also, by the number of my posts, I talk too much. Oops.
