A lady I know, WYNN BURNS, in Fort Pierce FL, runs an incredible animal refuge on a shoestring.
Wynn Burns is one of 10 finalists from throughout the country in Animal
Planet's Hero of the Year contest. The winner of the
contest will receive $10,000 for his
or her organization and a trip for two to Hawaii worth about $8,000.

She operates on $12,000 to $14,000 a year, "so
that (prize) money would take care of the animals for a while," Wynn would auction the trip to Hawaii and roll that money into the
refuge as well to make much-needed renovations.
