I had some soy coupons and I bought some last week. it does have a diff. off sort of taste...chalky almost. I use it to make pancakes and on cereal and I did not notice much of a diff. I would buy the vanilla flavor, that may help.

I bought it for a while and used it for cooking - none of us liked it plain (except the chocolate - it was good). I was trying to work additional soy into our diets and used it for just about everything except a plain glass to drink. We couldn't tell the difference when I cooked with it, but you're right - it does taste different. I eventually quit just because it was a pain to have 2 containers and remember to use it plus, we use skim and there isn't skim soy. It has some fat in it. Lisa

I wouldnt try to get my 9 yr old to drink soy. She knows better, and knows that, to her, cows milk tastes 'better'. That being said, we NEVER use plain. We use vanilla flavoured. I'm sorry your child has a dairy allergy. Do you know all the ways (words) that mean 'milk' in the ingredient labels? Do you have safe stuff to buy? I'm a wealth of knowledge in dairy allergy (or peanut/nut, for that matter...). Generally, when cooking, soy milk works as a 1:1 replacement. And there are even some frostings, cake mixes that are dairy free ![]() jason |

Can you fool your 4yr old by putting the soy in a regular milk bottle? How about mixing the soy & milk together? Start maybe 1/4 to 3/4soy /milk ratio and increase over time? That's what I did when we realized my 12yr old (he was 7 at the time) was lactose intolerant. HTH, Judy |
