Smile Help me with a web nanny program

I guess it is time for some internet protection. While googling how to make a teepee, my 9 yr old DD got an eyefull of p o r n . Thank god I was right there and clicked it off as soon as I could.

What do I need so I can feel a little safer while she is doing reasearch for school and such. I don't know anything about these type of programs. Thanks for any information

Well, I can tell you that you may want to have her use a more "kid friendly" search rather than google. Try AJKids.com or Yahooligans....you shouldn't get any porn. The other thing you can do is to adjust your google preferences for SAFE SEARCH.

This site has a bunch of kid friendly search sites...

My kids use wikipedia to do research. My hubby works with computer security and loves this website...it is filled with all sorts of kid appropriate content.

I know this isn't exactly what you are looking for...but as far as I am concerned, those nanny programs all have loop holes. None are going to be 100% safe.
