My mother has been an x-ray tech for quite some time, I think she complains mostly about being understaffed but she works at a military hospital and they don't pay what you can make across town. She's recently become certified in mammogram and is working on the Dexa thing (bone density I think?). She's suggested (to me) looking into the nuclear med type stuff because it pays more, or ultrasound... both of which are pretty competitive (school-wise).
It probably depends on where you work... but she's had to x-ray a few dead people. And x-raying children does not sound like fun, they have to be immobilized, often when I call her at work I can hear a kid screaming. She also has to give barium and when people drink it they often throw up... and I remember when she had to learn to give an IV, not sure if that is a routine thing for her to do.
