Podcasting is something that is really taking off. Personally, I can't stand the sound of my own voice when listening to recordings.

I've never listened to a podcast before so thanks for posting.

So is podcasting a live thing ever? or always pre recorded? How is it different than internet radio?

My personal opinion on what I've heard so far.. I don't think I have the time (or patience) to stop and listen to it and do nothing else, but would definitely have it on in the background to listen to while I did dishes or something. I love talk radio. Its my own guilty pleasure .

Podcasts are recorded, edited a bit and then placed online. They are a really growing thing, you can actually subscribe to them so that each episode will be downloaded to your computer. There is another Pittsburgh company called TalkShoe that publishes a ton of podcasts and actually shares revenue with the folks who create them.
