Marion Jones

I know what she did was wrong, but I felt so sorry for her when she admitted what she did. I think of all the athletes out there who EVERYONE knows used/is using steroids/drugs/etc. who simply REFUSE to admit it and go about their day ARROGANTLY. I wish Marion the best. I hope things turn around for her for the sake of her and her child.

Yes I liked her too. But when you lie to the Feds..... It's too bad sports have gotten so out of control with the use of drugs....

But she had the opportunity to admit SEVERAL years ago and vehemently denied use of any steroids for those years. I don't feel sorry for her. Just like I don't feel sorry for any of the other athletes who have used illegal substances and been caught.

I don't feel sorry for her either. I think her medals should be stripped and she hould get jail time. All those girls that looked up to her? All those reporters that aked her over and over.. She had her chance..

I agree completely. She's a liar and a cheater and deserves every bit of shame, humiliation and disgrace she gets.

If only the other cheating athletes out there could get the same, maybe this behavior would stop!

So sad

Marion Jones was from our county, and everyone looked up to her becasue she attended our local HS and was an amazing track star. Now, like many, we too feel ashamed and betrayed. Why lie? I can't help but think of the people whose dreams were shattered because they came in 2nd to her. I wonder if the Bronze medalist will be given the Gold, etc? I think all her medals should be returned as well as her name be removed from the record books. This should be a precedent for other athletes as well.

It's quite sad. Celebrities have had more than their share of falls from grace, and it is almost impossible to pick one out that kids can truly look up to.

Now more and more athletes are creating the same drama these days with their "performance enhancers".

In a way it's good - maybe fans (of celebrities and athletes) will stop spending insane amounts of money on products these people endorse, and see them as regular people. And by that token, maybe celebrities/famous athletes will stop making ridiculous amounts of $$ to attach their name/image to brands.

NONE of these people are worth it. I'm emphasizing role models within our extended family / our friends / and our local high school. No point in pointing toward famous people anymore and saying to kids "Look! You could do that, too!"

And like Flowerchild, I feel for the people who came in 2nd to Marion. Sadly, we'll probably never even hear their names! She stole that when she cheated for those wins, and then spent all this time lying while she continued cashing in...

Her ex-husband in 2002 told everyone she told performance enhancing durgs. This doesn't come as big news to anyone in track and field, just look at her 2004 Olympic poor showings. I just don't believe her when she said she didn't know that she was taking steroids.

The sad thing is that she is not the only one BALCO has screwed, she the only one they got caught. Now how about Bonds??
