Do your schools have Fall Break?

My kids are on Fall Break this week. We started back to school after the summer on August 6 and have a week off now and half-day 'Early Release' days every few weeks all year.

They still get the state-mandated 179 days of school... but the summer is 1 month shorter than it was when I was a child.

No fall break here.....in the middle of getting them off to school this morning and really wishing that they at least had a day off for Columbus day....

Not here, but in our old school district they started it new last year - I wasn't too pleased because I was due with our baby a few days after their week long break ended.

No fall break here either. I really wish they would. Seems like the breaks always rejuvenate the kids....kind of like when we get a vacation.

No break either. They do have Friday off for Teacher-In-Service Day. I'm glad that they don't have Fall Break.

No fall break here, either. We have early release days once a month with 2 months having it twice. They are out for in-service this Friday, but no actual Fall break.

no fall break here in central NY but they do get a long Christmas break, a mid-winter break, long Easter break, long weekend for Memorial Day, as well as many superintendent days and in-service days.

Our school district doesn't have a fall break either. I was totally surprised that they didn't even have Columbus Day off, when we lived in South Dakota, they didn't observe Columbus Day, it was called Native American Day, but they did get that day off. However, my son does have Friday off for teacher in service day, and he had a half of a day this past Friday.

Our school district is year-round. You go to school for 10 weeks, and than get 4 weeks off. My kids are off-track right now (on-break), and don't go back until Oct. 29th. They will still get Thanksgiving off + that Friday, December Break, and than all of Feb. off. Their school year ends at the end of May, and the new school year starts at the beginning of July.

It was totally confusing at first, but now I like it. :O)

We do have fall break here third week of October. I believe it is only Thursday, Friday, plus the weekend--not a full week off. In Minnesota, we had fall break plus the whole week off at Thanksgiving, which they scheduled conferences at that time.

Never heard of Fall Break. How awkward for working parents (outside the home). We get a couple days off for Thanksgiving and then winter break (aka: xmas vacation)

I live in Maryland close to DC. The public schools take off Federal Holidays because many parents work for the govt., Christian holidays, and Jewish holidays (because of a large number of Jewish people in the area). We start right before Labor Day and go until the second week of June. I work in a Catholic school so we don't take the Jewish holidays but we have longer at Easter. We also celebrate Halloween and All Saints Day and Christmas.

Do you live where I live? Ours is about the same. Mine went back to school Aug 9th and they are on Fall break this week. We also have 2 half days about every 3 or 4 weeks.

Mine are on fall break this week also. Their first day was Aug. 7th. They are off for something every month, at least 1 day.

Our kids started school August 13th and have Fall break the week of 10/22-10/26. They will have another week off in the Spring and then get out of school May 30th, unless we use more than two snow days.

We are in Northwestern AZ. We went to Disneyland for Fall Break and saw a LOT of Arizonans there. And we thought we were so smart going now. LOL.

No Fall break here. The kids started back on August 29. They had off for Labor day and not again until Thanksgiving. No early release days planned except for the last day of school. They go 180 days.
