CS Lewis was a Theologian who used Christian allegory throughout the Chronicles of Narnia series. I've read the books numerous times as both a child and a adult. Everytime I read it, I find something new to think about. However, as a third grader, the story will simply be a wonderful fantasy tale of adventure. I would absolutely have no trouble with it being read in class.

The sub probably sent home the note because of the Christian undertones. She wants to make sure no one objects to that ( the whole no religion in school idea). My 2 ds and I have read the books and have seen the movie. I think they are wonderful. Judy |

By being read in class, I assume that it is by the teacher. If students are reading it, then it is over the head of some of the students. Some students may pick up on the religious undertones to the book, but overall it is a wonderful fantasy book.
