Teacher/Narnia/The horse and the boy??

I have not read The Chroncle books....

The Sub teacher sent a note home asking if we had any concerns about the book being read in class.

The question is.... Should I have any??

Thanks Josie

I haven't read the book but we did watch the movie. The Chronicle of Narnia and it was a very good movie, my 6 year old watched it also. What grade is your child in?

Maybe the teacher is worried becaues there is a lot of imagination going on in the book, like animals being able to talk and traveling to a make believe world. I would recommend getting the movie and basing your answer off of that. I would let me DS be read the book.

CS Lewis was a Theologian who used Christian allegory throughout the Chronicles of Narnia series. I've read the books numerous times as both a child and a adult. Everytime I read it, I find something new to think about. However, as a third grader, the story will simply be a wonderful fantasy tale of adventure. I would absolutely have no trouble with it being read in class.

The sub probably sent home the note because of the Christian undertones. She wants to make sure no one objects to that ( the whole no religion in school idea). My 2 ds and I have read the books and have seen the movie. I think they are wonderful.

By being read in class, I assume that it is by the teacher. If students are reading it, then it is over the head of some of the students. Some students may pick up on the religious undertones to the book, but overall it is a wonderful fantasy book.
