More Gunfire in Cleveland....

Two teachers taken out on a stretcher after a young man walked in the school shooting... Not many details..
Perhaps and this is terrible to say but this is so common around here I guess the shooting in WI didnt even phase me anymore. IT is HORRIBLE to be like that but shootings dont even phase me anymore...

All that I can say is that I am shocked!

Clearly, something more needs to be done...

I don't agree that school shootings are that common. I don't think it's something that happens all the time. we have heard other shootings in different parts of the country over the past years, it's always painful for me to hear.

There was a shooting at one of our local high schools (the one I graduated from) about 6 or 7 years ago. One of the things that seem to be the same at a lot of these shootings is that the kid who did it told his friends that he was and they didn't believe him. Kids need to know that they need to tell an adult if they hear that someone is planning a shooting even if they think they are joking. At the one here the morning of the shooting his friends patted him down to see if he had a gun. Unfortunately they didn't look in his back pack and two boys died and others were shot. Too bad they didn't tell an adult or at least his father. I heard a mom say she couldn't believe it could happen at their school. That is what we were all saying too. I feel sorry for all the students, teachers, and parents. It's a hard thing to go through.

Shootings in Cleveland have become very common. There is at least one a day on the news and that doesnt take into account the ones we dont hear about.
School shootings are terrible any shooting is terrible but it is about time we stood up and did something about it. WHat?? I honestly dont know...

This was a private school (technology school) The kid was all of 14.. as a mother of 2 toddlers I cry. Home schooling looks so much safer anymore.. not that I want to do it , but it just seems safer..

This school was a school for kids who needed and alternative type of education. A co worker of mine has a mother that teaches in this school. These kids, a majority of them, have been in trouble before. As far as home schooling, the way shootings are in Cleveland, even that isnt safe anymore...

On the news they said it was a high school that both student and teachers wanted to attend. That you have to apply and the kids that go there do well acedemically . I can't speak on whether they have been in trouble. But national news said that school "dispelled the myth of inner city schools" That the families were working middle class or higher, the kids did well, teachers liked it, the parents were involved in the school....
Yes there are shooting very often on the news in Cleveland, but sadly that is true in almost every major cities in the country. There have been millions of people who lived, worked and gone to school in Cleveland and will continued to do so.. I can't deny that the City has problems, and needs a lot of work. But some posters make is seems like you have practically wear bullet proof vest of walk around. Or that everyone is shot while sitting at home. Not everyone chooses to live there life in fear.

Well, it's just wikipedia and you get what you pay for, but the data for 2005 is somewhat appalling for Ohio's two major cities. Cinci and Cleveland are #8 and #9 for worst per-capita crime rate. I've always wondered why this is - is it due to poor economy or something??

I work in the city. On the East side to be exact. I am not sure what part of Ohio you are from licia, but it is a dangerous city. You can never put your guard down and as a matter of fact, I do own a bullet proof vest. People are getting shot sitting in their homes. A month bacl a BABY was shot in his living room by someone driving sown the road shooting "to see what it felt like". THere have been millions who worked, lived and gone to school here who have done just fine but the number of shootings and deaths has risen dramatically lately. Please do not let your guard down if you come to the city. IT is not as safe as Mayor Jackson wants everyone to believe.

Mayor Jackson wants you to beleive it's safe? I haven't heard him saya word about it either way.lol. He's a mute as far as were concerned. I remember driving to the clinic when my dad was dying and seeing someone getting stabbed at a bus stop. That was my first time seeing anything like that, and then the following day that girl Penny was shot at the Cleveland clinic.. I was on my way there.. and that was the "safe cleveland"
I did hear that it was named one of the poorest cities in america this year. I'm sure that takes it's toll.

I didn't know the Mayor was saying that, but then again I never pay attention to what he says anyway. I wasn't saying that no one had ever been shot sitting at home, of course I have heard of it happening.
Thanks,I do keep my guard up where ever I go , I make sure I know what's going on around me.
I need to make it clear that I was not saying Cleveland was safe, because I don't think anywhere is. I know certain areas are less safe than others. Some people just work or live there and don't live in fear meaning they carry on as best as they can and be as aware as they can, because they have no other choice.

We went to Cleveland for summer vacation in 2005 (Cleveland? Yup. My boys wanted to see the R&R HOF and the Football HOF). We also went to an Indians game. We walked from R&R HOF to the baseball field and back. I don't know what areas you guys are talking about, but we didn't feel unsafe there. Should we have???
