Feeding Baby??

I was hoping some of you smart women could come to my rescue! My baby boy is a little over a year. He's still drinking Nutramigen from a bottle. He was a preemie, so I am still very concerned with him getting good nutrition. He's trying to reject his baby food, so I am looking for nutritious "people food" for him. For some reason I am drawing a blank! We are eating Cheerios, raisins, scarmbled egg with cheese...any other ideas? I felt so much better when he was on his baby food because I felt like he was definantly getting good stuff in. But now I need help! Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks, Donna

smashed bananas, noodles, applesauce, mashed potatoes, pieces of bread, spaghetti cut in small pieces, anything you eat, chicken, steak, peas, green beans, NO CORN (for awhile), carrots, mac & cheese. They are a mini u. Whatever you eat, let them try it......

Talk to your pediatrician -- they should have some good ideas. Also, if you can, go to a nutritionist. I did that was DS#2. He had milk protein intollerence and then a soy allergy and was under 20 lbs. at age 1. The nutritonist gave me lots of great ideas.

I'd hold off on "junk food" as much as possible. Maybe whole wheat bread/toast/pasta, small chunks of fresh soft fruits like bananas and peaches, chopped and cooked til soft veggies like butternut squash, zucchini, potatoes, cheese bits, crackers/biscuits.

Plenty of great ideas!

Are raisins okay? I was told they were a choking problem w/my kids.

I'm sure you'll be thrilled to be rid of that lovely Nutramigen scent!

How about some of the toddler Gerber stuff? I remember my daughter was eating full adult food (cut up of course) by a year, but DS was still on baby food after a year, he loved it. It just depends on the kid. Does your son use a sippy cup? How about juice in one, I always watered it down for my kids. It sounds like he's right on track with everything though, it's just that time.

And have you tried one of these? I put fruit in it and put them in a high chair while I was doing dishes or something, they loved it and there wasn't as much of a mess.

Avocado is pretty popular with babies, mine is almost 1 and she eats banana chunks, I slice apples and pears in quarters then slice one quarter in thirds and remove the peel and give her one, but she has 8 teeth... I bake squash and she gobbles down mouthfuls of that.

I remember making a slice of french toast and cutting into little squares..same with grilled cheese sandwiches. Banana slices..things that are easy for them to eat with their little fingers...

I always made some Pastina w/ a little butter for my kids, they loved it. (so did I...spoon for them..spoon for me LOL)

How about oatmeal? or Cream of Wheat? w/ some applesauce mixed in for flavor?

I am dealing with the same thing, trying to feed a 1 year old that is. And from all the things you moms listed, I'm doing ok! It's been so long since I've done this, and when mine were little I was prepared, you know? Read all the books and articles for every stage. With Faith, I feel lost sometimes!

As far as nutritionally, I don't think they need the formula if their eating regular food, right?? Seems like I did read that somewhere.
