I haven't bought it, but our church has the program. People say it is really good. Angel Food Ministries |

You don't have to have any certain income for this program and it is a good value. We tried it one time and it was not for us, their meat has additives/solutions and flavorings added and we like our meat with no additives or solutions. Although the value was good if you eat those type foods, we got 10 lbs of frozen chicken (with additive/solutions), 1 lb of ground beef (with additive/solutions), 2 lbs of chicken tenders (which we did eat), frozen spinach (we don't eat spinach), frozen corn tortillas, 2 boxes of macaroni and cheese and several other items. We ended up giving most of it to DH's clients so it didn't go to waste. I am just very picky about meat, I won't buy meat at Walmart for the same reason, most of it has the added solutions in it.

My mom and I both tried it for a couple of months. Honestly, it wasn't for us. The chicken we received, we did like. Most of the meats, we did not like. We got frozen veggies, nothing wrong with them but I added up what I received and could honestly go buy the same things at Walmart or Aldis and get the same value. And some of the items we received were things that we just don't like. So for me personally, it wasn't worth it. I can take the $25(now $28 in my state)and put that toward items we like. But, I know many people that buy it and love it. Check out their website and you can see the menu for 2 or 3 months at a time. We didn't have to take a box but had to put a $3 deposit the first time we placed an order to receive a plastic container for the food to go into. And when you order the next month, you take the container back and aren't charged another $3. And if you want to stop the program, you're supposed to take the plastic container back and get the $3 back. I never have taken mine back though. |
