I had my mine removed a few years back when I was diagnosed with thyroids cancer. I know it must really scary, but just know that thyroid cancer is something you can overcome and very treatable. Good luck, hope your test come back negative.

Good Luck. Sometimes that dread we feel before something is worse than the "something" itself. Ditto to what Polve said. A friend of mine had thyroid cancer, and is doing just fine. Hoping it isn't that.

Well I'm off! PS I'm not worried about cancer at all, moreso the actual going "under" idea.

Good luck to you, hope all goes well. My DH is having his first surgery today- finally getting his ACL reconstructed and the cartilage repaired in his left knee, so I know how you feel. We are a bit nervous as well.

I'm the queen of surgery, it seems. Been married almost 11 years and have had 13 surgeries in that time. Facing more in the coming months. The anticipation of going under is always the worst and doesn't seem to get easier. You'll be in my thoughts this morning. I'm sure all will go great! |

"Going under" is one of the weirdest feelings in the world! It seems like just seconds after they tell you that you are going to sleep that they are telling you to wake up. It's almost funny! You'll be just fine!

Well everything went ok. SInce I get sick so easily they gave me everything to ensure I wouldn't throw up during surgery, so the last i remember was being put on the OR table, and tucking my arms in and then I woke up 2 hrs later in recovery. I HATED that part. You know you have all this stuff hooked up to you, but also I was SOO groggy, which I couldn't stand. I hate not having control overmyself. About 30 mins in recovery I started feeling really sick so they gave me something which took care of that. Surgeon said that everything went well, and they only took out the right lobe. I was a little confused because previously he told me that it would be sent down for testing for cancer. After when he came to talk to me though he said they only removed the right lobe and that it was ...A________. And that they sent it out for further results which he won't know for a few days. I knew I should have wrote that word down but I was still groggy and just wanted to be elft alone. Any ideas as to what it was that he said, it started with an "A" is all I remember about it. Is it typical to check it during surgery, and then still send it out as well after surgery? All I know is I do not want to go through that again, ever!

I may be wrong but I always thought that when any body part is removed from the body, they check in a lab in more detail. A doctor can look at it on the table but it always is rechecked by a lab. |
