| Do you know his password? Maybe you could change it so that he is unable to access it? Other than that, maybe call the cable company and see if they have any suggestions.

You should be able to log into your account somewhere on the cable company's website, and find something that says "Mange Your Accounts" or something to that effect. We have roadrunner, and are allowed up to five email accounts with our basic plan. I can go in and disable any one of them whenever I want, change the address... I have complete control. I don't know the legalities of this (or even the ethics) but you can probably even go in and set it so that the mail is not delivered *to* his computer, but rather can only be read online. Through the master account management page, you can probably change his password, too. That would mean that he would no longer receive his email into his computer, and also could not go to the internet provider's website and log in and view it online. On the other hand... if you have not disabled the account altogether, and you have the new password, you will have full access to the email account he created that you "own." Like I said... I think the legalities and the ethics there are a little bit fuzzy, but he has been using a service you purchased for his own personal communication without your knowledge. Therefore, I'm not sure what his right to privacy regarding those communications is. |

I would call the cable company. They should have the serial number for the modem, and "may" be able to track it down, kind of like tracking an ISP. I'm sure if you call them and just start talking, it will come out to where they can decipher what you're saying. P.S. Sorry about your Mom's lung cancer.

I would probably be pretty mean. I would go into the account and see who he is emailing and see if he was emailing his new girlfriends and if he was, i would probably send them something rude and never say a word. let him get blasted . lol.

LOL@ littlejo! I couldn't actually do it, but if I were watching a movie where the jilted ex-girlfriend commandeered her ex-boyfriend's email account and started only letting him receive the emails she wanted him to see, and started communicating with all his hotties without telling him.... I'd probably laugh really hard. |

Are you concerned about the cable guy getting in trouble for giving you another modem and not charging you for the lost one? If so I don't think I would mention this if you call in. He may get in trouble for doing something nice and you might get charged. When I worked for a cable company many years ago one of the installers gave a cust. a remote. When the remote broke they went in to get another one and when they said there is no remote on their account they told them they were given it for free. Well the installer got fired. I would call and ask if it were possible for your ex to still be using his email account when you have moved and are the one paying for it. Hopefully they can tell you how to fix it.
