Are you competitive?

One of my friends (online and in real life) is a Marine MGySgt.....he was telling me the other day that he's never met a woman as competitive as me. I'm like "huh?". I don't think of myself as competitive. He said that I have to win at everything and that if nothing else, you could just look at what I do compared to other woman (his words - not mine! - he is a bit of a chauvanist ) and know that I have to be competitive in a man's world.

Course now that he mentions it, I am starting to see it.

So WOMEN - are you competitive?

I am extremely competitive, so is DH. We even race home if we are both in different cars. If I lost I'm bummed but not mean spirited. But I love to win!!! And when I say love, its an understatement.

I not competitive at all. I suppose it's kind of weird, but I take delight in seeing other people win because I know it matters a lot to them. On the other hand, I hate people who are so competitive that they get mad or grouchy when they lose. We have contests at work sometimes, and I've asked to be skipped over if I win...and they can announce #2 as the winner.

Used to be. Not so much anymore. I used to do some bracket racing, tsd rally and the occasional powderfpuff stockers and could be quite competative. And of course the drive to and from work was always a competition with every other car on the road.

Now it is more when I feel I have to prove myself. I'm getting older now and have to show the youngsters not to count me out just cuz I'm over the hill.

However I do know that it doesn't matter what the game, bowling, pool, cards, darts, ect, I am more attentive when money is on the line. If we are betting, IT'S ON!

I used to be, too. I used to work in the cut throat coporate world where you had to compete to get ahead. But as I've gotten older, become a SAHM and my priorities have changed, I'm much less so. I still am to some degree - winning is definately funner than losing - but everything isn't a competition as much as it used to be anymore.

I really used to be a complete and total "Type A", but I'm mellowing a lot. I'm now somewhere between a "Type A" and "Type B"...and really working to be more and more of a "Type B"!

I'm very competitive. It's doesn't bother me to lose, but I really like to win and will try my best to do so. That being said, I haven't met many people, men or women, who aren't fairly competitive. I've only met one person in life who could really care less whether he wins something or not. My DH and I get together at least once a month with a friend of ours and his wife to play games, and part of time he doesn't even try to answer questions correctly or get ahead in the game, he just doesn't care. My DH and I would both sell each other down the river to win a game. LOL. Many years ago my DH and I ran an arcade, and we used to play air hockey against each other a lot. Sometimes people would come into the arcade who didn't know us, and would swear we were trying to kill each other. To us it was just a friendly game, but we both play hard and try our hardest to win. So at times when the machine really needed to be waxed, you would see the puck fly across the table, and jump up a little in the air and hit my hand or arm. I would yell "ow", slam the puck back down on the table and hurl it back toward him as hard as I could. But nobody ever really got too hurt or got upset.

Sorry for the novel. I don't normally say a lot, but today I seem to be rather chatty.

That is too funny !! Those air hockey games can be very addictive. I loved playing those things when I was younger.

hehehe me too...with that said, we just bought a 2007 Chevy Uplander (traded in my 2001 Chevy Impala) and I went from a 3.6 Ltr V6 to a 3.9 Ltr V6 talk about power! I have raced many lol! I usually end up winning. Nobody expects a mini-van mom to beat a teenager in a beater but hey, I like to "run against the wind". When my husband is in the car he says...you're not gonna let them beat you, are you? He likes to antagonize a bit.

I'm not too competitive except when I'm PMS'ing... then I seem to obsess and feel 'high and mighty' about stupid *little* things. Yuck.

Very much so. I hate to lose. I really have to try to keep it under control when we have game night with family and friends or I can get over-motivated and DH feels the need to explain my competitive streak to everyone (again....)

My aunt made me a quilt for high school graduation that had squares with fabric paintings on them. One of them is a drawing of me bawling with a deck of cards in the background. I guess I didn't like to lose when we played cards at family gatherings and could be quite a piss-ant about it. LOL
