Difference between a 4 and 4T?

I need to get my youngest 2 some new pants now that cooler weather is moving in, and yes I know the easiest thing would be to take them to the store and try some on........

What is the biggest difference between a 4T, 5T and a regular 4? would a 5T be pretty much the same as a 5T? Last year I the girls had a bunch of Children's Place jeans, and wore the knees out and the bottoms frayed real easy...who do you think has the best jeans for little ones?

How many jeans do you buy for your little ones? Now that they both wear the same size I was thinking 6 pairs........

What I have found (I have a 5 year old and he just outgrew the 5T clothes) is that Size 4 is comparable to a 5T. When he was just going into the big boys department w/size 4, he could still wear 5T sizes as well. Toddler sizes are SUPPOSE to be bigger through the rear to accomodate a diaper (I worked in the baby department for years while in college). Honestly though, I didn't find that to be 100% true with my son. When he was in Size 4, he could still fit in some 4T sizes as well (especially w/the Children's Place clothes as I have found them to run just a bit larger). But, for my son, Size 5 is ALOT bigger than size 5T! IMO, it would go from size 4T, Size 4/5T, Size 5 (from smaller to larger).

Hope this makes sense and helps!

P.S. As for the "best jeans"---I don't know! My DS seems to do well with Wranglers (they seem to last the longest and are not overly expensive).

My daughter can wear anything from a 4T to a 6, you really never know until you try them. I love Bongo or Old Navy jeans for her and for my son it's purely Gap and Levis. They are just what fit each of their body types, not necessarily what lasts longer, although they do pretty good I think.

I worked for a major retailer's children's buying department for years and the difference is supposed to be only in the waist/seat area for the accommodation of a diaper. That's the distinction of the "T", it's for toddlers who are expected to still be wearing diapers. I heartily agree, though, that different manufacturers sizes can vary dramatically. I also had a hard time with styles for the 4-6 range were not nearly as "little girl" as the toddler range. My 3 y.o. doesn't need low-rise pants. The best jeans I've found for my kids are Old Navy and Levi's, they are sturdy and hold up well. We used to buy Gap jeans, but my DS wore holes in the knees so fast you wouldn't believe it.

Good Luck,
Renee

I recommend Old Navy Jeans and Levi's as well. I have a really active 6 year old and he has quite a few pairs of Levi's and hasn't worn them out at all... My little girls fit best into the Old Navy Jeans. If your kids are in 4T, I would move them up either to a 5T or a solid 4. Those would be about the same. My 4 year old is barely into 4T, and so I'm hoping for Kindergarten next year she will fit into 4's?

The 'T' in 4T stands for 'toddler' and is supposed to be more roomy for a child still in diapers. However, I have found that is not always the case and it really varies by brand, at least for boys sizes.

As far as the best jeans, Childrens Place jeans have held up well for my boys (I can't comment about the girls styles since I only have boys). IMO, Levi's are the most durable but they are also expensive, even on sale. Lands End jeans wear well too, but again, they are expensive and hardly ever go on sale. My kids wear through the knees in Old Navy jeans very quickly and don't fit well in GAP (my boys are very tall and thin -- GAP jeans are always either too short or huge in the waist). Lately I've just been buying whatever is on clearance that will fit them since I know they'll wear through the knees.

Levi's and Children's Place jeans have worked best for my 6 year old DD. I also like the $5 Target jeans that aren't really heavy jeans but jean like pants. You can buy 3-4 pair of them for what it costs to get one pair of Levi's so even if they were out, it's been okay.

For DS who is 8, Children's Place, Levi's and Gap
