Since you are having it at dinner time - you should serve a meal. Your guest will expect to be having dinner at the party. If you are planning on having a tea- have it at 2:30 -- This being a third child - I would call it a sprinkle - in stead of a shower - that way people can choose not to bring gifts and it is less formal than a shower. You can keep it simple with things the girls can make - like finger sandwhiches - but I would definitly serve a meal if you still plan on 6:30 pm. |

I guess I am in the minority but I think a "dessert" shower is just fine. I went to a shower (bridal) once and it was ice cream sundaes. It was fun. I think keeping it simple with a cake and some sweet cookies is fine. And maybe some punch. Nice, pretty, feminine. Since it is a small group you could put the word out that it is desserts, or put in in the invite. "Please join us as we celebrate Susan's sweet bundle with some sweets and treats!" Date Time Place Cake and some sweet surprises will be served BTW, at my shower they had these adorable petit fours, I think from Publix. They had little pink booties on frosting on top.

I think at that hour that desserts and pastries would be fine also. That would be a great time, as I could feed my family a bit earlier as it's a Sunday anway and then you could have coffee and desserts for the guests. I think the sundaes would be a cute touch if their are other kids your DD's age going... Can still be a bit fancy even though it's dessert. There are a ton of options.
