Not even Halloween, but are you ready for Christmas?

I am just going up to take inventory of the gifts I bought throughout the year and see what I still need to get for people. I bought a couple more things today when I was out and needed to wait until the kids are sleeping to dig into my goodies.

Have you bought much yet?

I am almost done. I am going to New York City in a few weeks and will, hopefully finish it then. (I may end up with a couple of last minute ones this year though, now that I think about it)

I find that if I shop this early, I spend less and enjoy the holidays more.

I have to have extended family done by Thanksgiving as we'll be traveling to the area where they all live. The biggest motivation is that I won't have to ship them if I'm ready by then!

Honestly, I like it because then I have a much shorter list to concentrate on after Thanksgiving and mainly my own nuclear family...

Yep, bought most of this year's items from after-Christmas sales last year.

I sure wish I was........need to get started. I say every year I'm going to get started early, but it never truly happens. I have a few things that I've picked up here and there, and stocking stuffers finished, but other then that......

We just don't have the funds for me to done already. I do pick up some nice Christmas items after Christmas for my mil, but other than that, I'm just kind of starting now.

I finally found some jewelry today and got a pretty good deal. I am almost done. I haven't started on my son yet, but just about done with all the grown ups. I'm off to check my e-mail now for that VS $25 gift card everyone is talking about. That will make another gift!!!

NOPE! Only have 2 gifts so far. Only have 3 people to buy for so it's not that hard and one of them is a gift card. Nice and easy!

Nope, not done. I am always done early but last year that blew up in my face. We bought for the kids before by Oct and then they "changed their minds" about what they wanted...in BIG ways. This year we will get 1-2 small things and wait to buy "the big gift" until closer to the day so we are more certain about what the kids want. We haven't even drawn names yet in my family...we really need to do that. I'm buying DH cabinets for the garage but we haven't scheduled to have them installed yet. DH is rebuilding our pantry as my gift. It was wire crap that I absolutely hate and we tore it out and he's building shelving with slide out shelfs so I can actually see all my stuff (I am a stockpiler so we have a lot). I'll take the kids to buy for each other after Thanksgiving

Just started here. Our "big gift" is paid for though. We're going to Disney for the holidays so there won't be as many gifts under the tree this year.
I'm waiting until we get there to do some shopping. I want to get the neices and nephews presents that they can't get from our neck of the woods.
I'll still do my annual BF shopping but only for our kids this year.

That's happened in our house before!!! I learned the hard way to wait until the beginning of December to buy their big gifts.

My DH (and myself!!!) keeps an Amazon Wish List that I ask him to update after Thanksgiving... He usually likes guitar stuff and sometimes I buy on Amazon, sometimes I find it elsewhere.

We finally got our extended family to start keeping the Wishlists for us......it certainly makes things much simpler......and they usually like their gifts much better

I'm almost done. DH's grandparents are snowbirds and leave earlier every year. We've renamed our Holiday "HalloThanksMas", because we get together in October. Each family brings H'ween treats and all the little ones dress up in their cosutme and get treats, then we load up and go out to eat somewhere for our "Thanksgiving' Dinner. After that we'll open Christmas gifts and then we usually celebrate my DD's bday since her bday is so close to Christmas (12-23) that they don't travel 3 hours so close to Christmas.

We'll do my FIL at the beginning of December and my MIL after Christmas, because she never has any money until after Christmas.

I've got the HalloThanksMas gifts done, as well as my out of state family, my MIL, my FIL and my niece and nephew. Got a start on my kids, but I like to wait a bit for theirs in case tastes change and wishlists get changed.

I feel good about the upcoming holiday for once. I'm on the ball this year. I'm even wrapping as I bring the gifts in the house so there isn't that mad rush to wrap it all in one night.

Almost finished! You guys make me sick! (in a good way, of course!) My boys keep changing and changing down to the last week depending on the video game du jour.

I do need to get motivated to pulling out all my christmas gift stockpile and start assigning it. I remember collecting items on a black/white theme for gift baskets for the women on my list........

I have learned through the years that it is better to give the kids and others what they really want, not just something I could get them on sale. So, I cannot do the Target 75% off anymore, as it might not be what they want. Do most of you get your gifts at a great price, or end up paying retail?

Crittles - that's exactly how it has turned out for us once we got beyond 2nd grade or so. Can fill in a little bit with shopping throughout the year....favorite team stuff, etc..but that's about it.

I have a few little things that I picked up, nothing major. I have a lot to buy for too I was telling my BF that we should just do the kids this year and no adults.. as it it between my 3 kids and neices and nephews between the 2 of us we have 15 kids to buy for from ages 15 years to a baby who will be 2 months old. if we add in parents, brothers, grandparents we are talking another 15 people. every year I read the boards and see everyone shopping right after Christmas for the following year and I say "I am gonna start that this year" well I guess I had a memory lapse cause I haven't started yet I need to get motivated.

It does get harder as they get older, I am finding that too. LIke last year, I had a lot of things in the pile long before Christmas but when we wrapped everything we realized we didn't have anything they really wanted. So we get in the holiday spirit and go shopping for a few of the things they have been asking for. I probably spend more money doing it this way too, who knows.

DH and I don't really buy each other much, we spend most of it on the kids, I would rather they have an awesome Christmas than I get what I could just buy for myself any time anyway.

My hardest to buy for are the little gifts, neices, friends of the family, that sort of thing, not immediate family.

I have done some, but to tell you the truth, a lot of stores have great sales the last week or two before Christmas, and I love going to the mall during the holidays. I know its overcrowded, but it wouldn't feel like the holidays if I didn't go to the mall and wait in line for 3 hours waiting to see Santa, and then pay $40 for keyring with a stranger holding my child
