I am freaking out here my DS school is locked down and its almost 6 pm!

Some idiot is holed up in a transit bus with a gun about 4 blocks from DS's school, he had to do it right before they let school out at 3:45 . So they are locked down, he is in a Modular Unit not the main school building so I dont know what they are going to do if these kids start getting hungry as I am sure they are probably doing.

This idiot has completely screwed traffic up they've shut the main road down, helicopters all over the place and its one big old mess. I have the scanner on and I can hear some of whats going on, but the good stuffs on the tactical channel.

I know they are doing whats right by the kids, but they have YET to have the Automated system call home to let us know our kids are safe. I had to go out and pantomine to the parents who speak no frigging english that there was a crazy man with a gun and that the kids were safe but wouldnt be home for awhile and they are safe. The School System website makes only a mention that school busses will be delayed, but come on let us know they are safe and locked down.

Hre is an news report on the situation: Police: Man With Gun On Bus Closes Route 1 - News Story - WRC | Washington

The robot just gave the guy some water and a phone, this guy is also a supect in a murder that happened by DS's school earlier.

I am worried sick and I am worried about DS's medication wearing off and the teacher getting to see the real "Peanut" off his ADHD medication.

I want this to end soon, they are saying it could be hours before they end this thing.

I dont know if the busses will bring him home when this ends or what happens this has never happened before and the school systems websites are no help and I called the news to see if they could get infomration and put it up and nothing as of yet.

I know it isn't funny...but this part of your post made me laugh.

I hope it ends soon and you get your DS home safe and sound.

Thank goodness it happened while the kids was in school instead of walking home. I would be a total wreck. Let us know when he is home, hoping it is not too long.

I wouldn't be so concerned about them being hungry or thirsty. I'm a teacher and in our class we have an emergency supply of water bottles and crackers just in case something like this were to happen.

DS's school is the ONLY school on Lockdown or shelter in place and they have been swarmed with parents trying to get to their kids using back roads and the Media is telling everyone stay put the kids are safe. The police wont even let them into the school parking lot now.

I just feel for the teacher once my sons ADHD medicine wears off he electries the room and bounces off the walls and in a Modular classroom it will be interesting.

This guy has now taken all his clothes off and is sitting in the stairwell of the bus naked as the day he was born and they have put the lights up to illuminate things. DH keeps saying just shoot him already, I would like to see this end with pepper spray or something of the sorts cause with guns and all that the area would be tied up until the morning I am sure of it.

I just went to my computer. I have NBC 4 as my homepage. I saw the situation and I thought I would come back to read it after I read mycoupons. I live in Silver Spring, MD. I am also a teacher (when through 911 and the sniper). Tthe day after the sniper shot at a kid. We had helicopters with guns flying over. I am across the street from a 3,000 student body high school. The day they caught the sniper they were standing with M16 in the intersection by my school and the high school. We were the only Catholic school closed that day. I am glad they are safe.

The bus got him home a bit before 8 pm, kid was hungry and tired. He had no clue whatsoever what was going on, the first bus-stop on his route is right directly behind where the incident happened probably I would say 300-500 feet behind it and he said Mom there were Police all over the place.

He came in ate his favorite Hamburger Helper was still hungry and had some leftover wings and fries and fell asleep with a wing in his hand on the couch DH put him to bed.

I have been pondering what and how much to tell him as I am sure that the older kids will be talking about what happened more details came about this morning this morning some I had already heard on the Police scanner in the afternoon. Already this early morning DH talked to a neighbor who is a retired Police Officer who works as a Auxilliary Officer and was called in to help with traffic yesterday this man is a suspect for a "suspicious" death that happened right by DS's school, they said that he got onto the bus with bloody clothing.

I have lived here all my life and I was worried sick when the Sniper shootings were happenng because my DH was Local based truck driver then I didnt set foot out of the house for weeks with DS I stayed home, yesterday I have to say truly was probably the scariest thing for me because my son is my life and this was just too close for comfort. This their 3rd lockdown so far this school year and the most serious of them, I really truly think we are going to look into moving more seriously now down to Florida with my mom , I know we cant escape it, but we had a murder in the complex the first of the year in our county and I watched the two boys who did it grow up from toddlers, they are both 18 well 19 now and wil spend all their adulthood in prison, its just not a nice place to raise children anymore in this community as it was when I grew up in here.

Thanks for helping me ease my mind last night it sure helped.
