I dont think I bought any animal food for a year, plus shampoo, razors, and the what nots for a year too. I had a room full of boxes and they were all full. My UPS man came everyday sometimes 2x a day.

I miss it too. I'll never forget the 3 pages of threads I had when my dad died. I went to print them out after the funeral and they tookthe boards down.I was devastated.

I still use the baby toys with my third kid that I got for free at babystyle when they launched the site (Cindy Crawford was on the first page) I know I am dating myself!

Yes, I miss it a lot and so does my budget!

That was the best time. All those new Internet start-ups offering crazy deals which we all took advantage of. Like "Irish" said, practically FREE pet food by the case. Oh my gosh, I still have some of the toiletries that I got in 1999.

I remember somewhere I got a case of Toilet paper...I mean 144 rolls of scott tissue, for like $7.

That was when you had a coupon for X dollars off and it applied to shipping too.

Yes, I Remember the UPS deliveries...It was like Christmas everyday.

Ahhh, the memories!

Those were good days. Seems like there were so many new companies out there willing to give us so much stuff for free! Drugstore.com was giving away things with every purchase. Remember all the Dunkin Donuts coffee?!! I even got a free bean grinder to grind the coffee beans!! And so many companies giving $10.00 off and someone would always find the items that were $10.00 so we wouldn't have to pay anything!!

I have no desire to relive the "good old days" because despite all the freebies and fun (and boy did we have fun! I miss Beenz! I miss Web Certs! I miss Pets.com!) there was a lot of ugliness going on. I think most here were oblivious to it and that's fortunate but for those of us on the receiving end of the nastiness, it was hell. So much so that I abandoned my old user name and will never clearly share anything identifying about myself again as the chief harasser is still active here.

While it is fun to look back at some things, not all is a feel good trip.

Catt, Thank you for posting the link(for some reason I can't get the boards in the link to work). Nevertheless, it was fun recalling all those deals. I remember constainly having to refresh the page because of all the new deals. It was fun getting all the coffee from Epinions. I still use the Drugstore first aid kit. I got several items free from Drugstore for test driving them. Was it Etoys that gave you $10 or $25 in free toys plus free shipping? Babystyle also had $10 off $10. Mother Nature also had a similiar deal. Remember Point Click and Cyber Rebates? I got my first breadmaker free at Cyber Rebates.

I think Barb said it best and kept a copy of the post she made in 2004 when the same topic came up

It's great fun to reminise. Thanks MCLeaderKim for starting this thread. I'm
sure there's many more yet who will join in.

MyCoupons began in Nov. '98. I remember so many of you from back then -
hecticmom; littlejo; and many more that may yet appear on this thread before
it ends. Catt: where are you? Chelmo - I see you around yet too.

MyCoupons opened with 2 boards - LWIF and CRS. And yes, I'll always remember
when LWIF got too busy, and we needed to split it...but how? So we asked the
members how they thought it should be split. We could get no unanimous
decision - everybody disagreed with each other's ideas. So we put up 2 LWIF
boards! Does anyone remember that? It really was quite funny, everyone was
confused, but the members DID show us how they preferred it. So today we
have LWIF for new shopping deals and freebies -and- MTCW for discussion of
same.
RP came aboard about this time too.

Anyone remember LisaW? She was our first Moderator (besides me). (Hi Lisa -
if you are reading this - come say "hey" to everyone.)

I can remember how busy LisaW and I were trying to keep up with all the
conversation, the shopping deals, the rewards programs. We kept saying -
there is no way this site can get any busier - and everyday, there was just
more and more posts. AND of course, late nights we were trying to shop and
click away ourselves as well. I know I did FreeRide even before this board
started with sending off UPCs to pay for my internet service.

Oh what fun BEENZ was, and this brings back memories of Pam - who became a
moderator with us, and was with us for years. Many of you probably remember
her. (Hi Pam - hope you read this and join in.) I still thank you for
sending me all those beenz sites because I just didn't have time to hunt
them myself.

Christmas '99 -- anyone around then will never forget Christmas that year.
It was like you'll never see again. I think someone mentioned how the deals
came so fast, you could hardly read them, much less jump over and do the
deal, then get back for the next one. (And remember - we all didn't have the
nifty neat FAST computers we do now.) On LWIF board --- the moderators would
time the posts. At times there were 7 and 8 posts going up per minute! I
think I was here round the clock for the entire months of Oct - Nov - Dec
1999. You were afraid to go to sleep for fear you'd miss a deal and
someone's excitement about finding another bargain. Almost everything was
free or a few dollars.

No - we didn't have much flaming in those days because we were too busy. We
were busy saving money.

About early 2000 is when MCLeaderAnnie and MCLeaderCindy joined us. They are
still with us at LWIF and MTCW boards, respectively.

iDolls - oh do I remember those. I think my grandkids still play with them
and all their clothes. For those who don't know what iDolls were: 18-inch
dolls with various hair styles and 40 (that's not a typo) pieces of clothing
with each doll = total cost: $19.95 and shipped FREE. (Regularly priced
$89.95 for the doll alone.) And you wanted every single one of them; they
were all so darling. lharrell - do you still have some? I know this member
must have grand stories to tell about iDolls. C'mon over and join in our
reminiscing.

The UPS man still to this day remembers our daily deliverys. I even got him
to go home and get his wife to join MyCoupons.com - they probably still have
dog food left from the pet.com deal!! The FREE pet.com days was ultimate!
(Explained in an above post.)

Drugstore.com deals just kept on coming, and coming and coming. I also
remember the site with paper plates, cups, New Year decorations -- $15. off
on $20. deal with FREE Shipping. The ToysRUS deals were also phenominal.
Anyone remember saving the hunts pudding q's -- and getting them from your
neighbors and relatives; or anyone you could?

Dave316 - you said it well. We paved the days of credit card buying.
Merchants were willing to put up great deals to get people used to buying
online. We obliged.

Donna ran the chat several of you mentioned. Donna is still with us; she
works with DirectCertificates.

Through the years, the shopping deals weren't as great, but let's face it -
merchants couldn't afford to give away all their merchandise. What's great
is there is still good deals out there. It's still possible to buy your
Christmas gifts at great savings, and have them shipped FREE.

This brings me to what how I spend the majority of my days now at MyCoupons.
I'm still very much aware of these boards, and what goes on about and
around. But mostly I am working with shopping deals - the coupons we have
right here at this site. I think the number is something like 2100+ coupons
of shopping deals!

Yes, there still is shopping deals, folks!

Whenever you need to know if there is a code or a deal for a site, just go
to the top of any board at this site - you'll see: "Search for coupons".
It's a search box that you just enter the name of the site you need a coupon
for. If there is a coupon out there, we try to get it RIGHT HERE at this
site for your convenience. You'll find we even have several MyCoupons
Exclusives!

And thanks everyone for the enjoyable evening of reminiscing.

Happy Day!
Barb

thank you for the return of the old days even though I was registered under a different name at that time, I was great with all those freebies. I still keep looking at the best freebie I was able to get with babystyle which the kids still play with today it was a radio flyer red wagon.

thanks again to all the wonderful people at these boards...

That takes me back! I remember when the Boards split into three and everyone was sooooo confused and just hated the change!

I'm glad that you saved this and posted. What happened to Barb?

I was reading the new 'About Us' page at http://www.mycoupons.com/coupon-codes-about-us.html and was surprised not to see Barb or Jason... I believe the only original administrator that is still here is Chuck -- the technical support man?

Hi All..

This is Barb. Just wanted to greet everyone and let ya'll know that I am still around as a MyCoupons member.

As Chuck stated, I am now retired; doing some traveling and yes, Linda, I am still a very avid Jeff Gordon fan. GO #24 in 2007!

Thanks LittleJo for posting this post of reminicence and to all those who have joined in. I 'do' remember each and every one of you! Wondering, how many remember the 1999 wonderfully crazy Christmas season shoping days/nights??
Gosh, I remember the FREE deals, the greatest coupons, FREE Shipping + More! Anyone remember the FREE pet food? the FREE New Year's Eve goodies? The $20 OFF $25 deals + FREE Shipping? I also remember getting ~very little sleep~ for fear I'd miss a deal coming up on MyCoupons Shopping Boards. Ahh... those were the days!

I have many, many memories of MyCoupons and it's terrific membership throughout almost a decade. You'll find me still shopping and grabbing deals, coupons, codes, etc. as well as reading (and occasionally posting) at MyCoupons.com, the #1 coupon site online!

Wishing everyone health, happiness and Coupons!

Happy Day!
Barb

I was so sad to see her go (as an admin). To me, she WAS MyCoupons. She is a smart, amazing and talented woman. We had some wonderful talks. I still miss her, but I am thankful I got to know her for at least a little while.

She helped make the whole internet world real.

Does anyone remember the MCI deal where you got $500 to spend at Amazon if you switched to thier phone service? I loved that!

I got alot of good deals back then from Oshkosh, I remember going crazy because my DS got some really cute clothes.

I forgot about the drugstore.com deals that was fun too.

I miss Etoys deals so bad, I remember getting stuff so dirt cheap.

I think that year was the best Christmas and the cheapest too!!

I miss the old Freeride, I remember being excited to cash in my points for $25 GC for just pointing and clicking. Beenz was fun too.

I think the internet would be a happier place if it would go back to the way it use to be

This does take me back... I had so much fun that year. I didn't post much because I was so busy buying! I remember a lot of amazon.com deals, too. I got one of those kids motorized cars (the one that looked a little like a Volkswagen Beetle) for my toddler shipped to my house for almost nothing for Christmas in 99. It was fabulous! I rushed to get home everyday to see what new treasures awaited me and read the "mail call". So fun...

I was never any good at finding the good deals... but I sure had fun getting stuff for free (or really really cheap). It was great, we hadn't been married long, were in college, didn't have much money and had a fantastic Christmas.

I think my husband would like Catt, he likes all her recipes anyway

Wow, gosh, I appreciate it very much. What a ringing endorsement!

What recipe did you make if I can ask? I love it that I started sharing recipes as I went through my mom's files, and some of her dishes are being served all over the place. As long as people are in the kitchen cooking, she'll always be here with us.

Back in 2005, the newspaper wrote an article about my 'upside down' turkey, along with an easy dumpling recipe, green beans, stuffing and the famous (or infamous) Pumpkin Dump Cake. And the editor got 250 emails saying people used the recipes to make their first Thanksgiving dinner. I was very pleased. Plus it's pretty cool to have people recognize me at the grocery - then they follow it up with "hey, can help me pick out my turkey?"

I appreciate your kindness, I truly do.
