Ah, the parking lot ... a necessary evil. What I mean by 'issues' is pet peeves. + Permittez-moi to go first ... + Me no like car dings and I believe I can avoid them. I am fortunate enough to not have any walking problems so I do not mind parking waaaay out in left field. I consider it good exercise and also, I do not have to worry about other parkers 'doing their thing.' + We have those shopping cart corrals and what I like to do is to park right next to one so that I can pull real close to one, parking to the left of it. That gives me a lot of room to open my driver's door. + Speaking of driver's door ... I was at Staples one time and when I came out, some co-co-nut parked soooo close to my driver's door that there was no possible way to get into my car on that side. So I had to go through the passenger's door and of course, just as I finished my maneuver, the co-co-nut comes out of the store. + I also like to park next to those 'expanded' handicapped spots that have the extra space (on their right hand side for opening doors). This allows me to park nearly on the line that I share with the handicapped spot. + I do like to find a shopping cart to bring into the store. You never know, it might be the only one available at that time or someone really in need could be looking for one as you bring one in. + Terence in Brook Park, oHIo |

We went to kmart today and parked way down in one row. The nearest car in that row was 10 spots away. But the next row had a bit more cars. I guess we were downhill from that row because when we came out a cart had rolled up against our vehicle--which is about 4 months old. My SO was fit to be tied!! Some lazy person couldn't put the cart back in the corral I guess and it was a bit windy.

hte only thing that bugs me in the parking lot is the dumb a$$'$ who park really close to the handicapped place. I have a few very close friends who are handicapped and they have a lift in their vans to get them out on to the ground with. I came outa walmart one day and saw one of these friends just sitting outside walmart. I talked with him for a little bit and then relized that someone had parked right up close to the handicap spot. he couldnt let the lift down to get himself back in the van. I went and spoke with the manager and they paged the driver of the car that was parked there to come to the front. This "person" came and after finding out why they were called to the front, pitched a fit! refused to move her car cause she was busy shopping. the security came and finally got her to move. she kept saying stuff like" hes handicapped, aint like he is gonna be late for work" he has nothing else to do but to sit and wait ".

I hate people who demand to go down the parking aisles the wrong way. And refuse to move over even a little to let you get by them.

People who park so close to my right side I cannot get my DDs car seat in. So sorry, oops, it seemed to have scraped against the side of your car, hmmm, wonder why.

This is no one's fault really, just frustrates me sometimes: Parking in a spot that has either 1 or 2 empty slots (on either side of me) or cars on both sides - coming OUT from shopping to find a big, huge, honkin' SUV on both sides of me. I have a Sunbird SE and it's a small car. It's crazy in some lots trying to back out when I can't see a single thing on either side of me. People who leave carts in the middle of parking spots - either on the other side of the cart corral or 1 or 2 parking spots from the store! C'mon, people, walk your lazy hineys a few more steps! I know unsecured carts can "move" themselves with a good wind or a bit of a downhill curve, but I've seen people do this myself. People that are not handicapped, parked in a handicapped spot. I know sometimes there are issues, but I also know some do it because they're too lazy to walk and the lot is full. People who zip into a parking spot from the other side of you, one you've been waiting for someone to back out of - AND had your turn signal on for.

This happened to me yesterday...I took my daughter and her friend out to Starbucks to get them a cold drink after soccer practice...I pulled into a spot and there were two empty spots on each side of me...In fact, there were tons of empty spots...I feel no need to jam right up against another car...Well, what does some moron do, but pull right up smack dab against my car in the space to the right...My daughter and her friend had a tough time getting out of the car...She had ten other spots to pull into, but pulls right up alongside of me...Idiot! Yes, that's what makes me mad! I also don't like it when they drive down the aisle the wrong way when the arrow clearly points in the other direction! ARRRGGGHHH! ~Lisa |

People who drive vehicles that are too big for them to manage. There's a reason I don't drive DH's truck, and that would be it. I'm fine as long as I only have to go straight in it. But, no tight turns and no reverse. So, I rarely drive his vehicle. Mine is big enuf, but, at least I can manage it. People who are NOT courteous in the parking lot. They seem to come out in droves around the holidays, too.

People who think their cars are special and park diagonal, people who take up the spot next to their car while they unload the cart, people who park just enough over the line so that all the spots are off..

I really hate when people haul butt through parking lots....slow down! and when they cut across the actual parking spaces...... or when people walk their carts to the carrols, but leave them on the sides instead of actually putting it inside of it. I also hate it when you see people leaving the big cardboard boxes from things they have just bought in the parking lot. Oh, and one more, when people cut off the pedestrians walking to their cars.......

The Tops near moi had the best parking spaces. Nice and wide. Someone responsible had their thinking cap on. Instead of worrying about how many spaces they could create of out of the lot. + Shoppers really did appreciate it in the form of repeat visits and in: "Honey, I will be at the store where I do not have to worry about fitting into a parking space or getting our vehicle dinged." + Terence in Brook Park, oHIo |

people who not only park in the fire lane, but park right where the "no parking anytime"sign is in front of their car. literally .... also this isnt cars-- but people who cross in front of you walking and take their own sweet time while i wait there patiently. since i have to go to all these stores for work i could go on and on...

I get upset when people park too close to me, either over the line or really close to it. Try getting a baby in her seat when you can only open the door 6 inches. The one time this lady in her big SUV saw me holding the baby while I was standing by the car waiting for her to park. Well, she parked so close to me that I had to MOVE the car (while my mom held the baby) to get her in her seat. What really was the kicker was that SHE had two kids in car seats so she had to know what it's like to struggle to get them in. She just didn't care apparently.

I can't stand it when pedestrians just walk out in front of your car without looking, I don't mean in the crosswalk area in front of the store, I mean farther out in the parking lot, just shove their cart out there and walk diagnally taking forever and don't care who has to wait for them they don't even look back. The other thing I hate is when someone thinks their car is so nice they have to take two parking spots up and park a funny diagonal way. People who let their kids run around the parking lot.

My pet peeves re: parking: 1. Cutting across rows of parking spaces to exit store parking lot. 2. Car parking close to me, seeing their paint from their door on my side mirror. (Quick fix: Swing door wide to return paint transfer) 3. Pulling out from parking space while traffic is approaching in the same row.

I agree with all that's been said and just had to add that our Target has the narrowest spaces I've seen. The lot is filled with huge SUVs, pickup trucks and minivans and the spaces are so narrow that no matter how perfectly you park between the lines, you're still too close to the car next to you. This is a fairly new shopping center, too. It's not like it was built before everyone started driving mammoth vehicles so they should have taken that into account when planning the parking lot. I guess it was more important to squeeze in a few extra spaces than to make the spaces a comfortable size.

People who don't put their carts up. My ds works for a grocery store. This spring someone used the shopping cart for their groceries but was too rude to return the cart to the buggy holder. A storm hit and a shopping cart hit my ds car and the coworker beside his car so hard that both cars headlight assembly was broken plus the coworkers car was dented. A new headlight assembly for my ds car was $300. Luckly, I was able to buy one on ebay for $60. The store had on film the person that didn't return their cart. People who drive the wrong way also upsets me. |

| this has to be my biggest grr! especially those who just let their kids run, don't chase after them and just call after them casually...

People who do not look when backing up.Just put the car in reverse and go. all of the solicitors who stand or sit outside the store doors, wanting donations, signatures, buy this or that, every single day.It never stops here. The people who stand in the road into the plaza with signs begging for food and money. Most signs say 'will do anything for food, money' how about work?

| We have this problem in our Elementary school parking lot.......they do not have things set up well, and many times the kids just cross where ever in front of moving vehicles and parents just call there name....I'm so worried that one day a child is going to get hit, especially when I know how hard it is to see a little one who is really close to my Armada.....I park far away these days so the kids and I can follow a back sidewalk to our car....

The people walking to their cars, right down the middle of the driving area. People who leave dirty diapers in the carts in the corrals. People who park in the fire lane right in front of the store because they will only be a minute. People who instead of walking 10 feet to the cart corral, walk 10 feet to the curb and wedge the cart on that. People who try to squeeze their cart between 2 parked cars to get to the aisle they actually parked in. People who will wait 5 minutes until someone pulls out of a good parking spot. Let's face it most of America could use a little excercise

Unhandicapped people that park in those spots. People that won't look before they pull out of the spot, I like my toes and unbroken legs thank you. Parking lot vultures that just wait for that spot that I haven't even left yet . . . and the longer they bother me the longer they wait.

[quote=Penny;2896368]The other thing I hate is when someone thinks their car is so nice they have to take two parking spots up and park a funny diagonal way. QUOTE] I am always the person that pulls up and parks next to them One time I saw a guy in an escalade do that towards the back of the parking lot (the store was busy and there were a few spaces there left) so I pulled my beat up Maxima and pulled in next to him. He didn't look too happy as I walked by. I hate it when you are parked correctly in a spot and someone hits and damages your car and leaves. I was at the mall, parked towards the end of the row and apparently someone couldn't pull into their spot and hit the front drivers side of my car and left a huge dent with blue paint and they cracked my reflector light. They werent there when I came out either they hit it and moved to another spot or just left the mall before me. Now I once pulled in a little too fast and hit a car from behind (more like bumped it but saw there was a small ding so I left a note on the car for the owner to call me so we can talk about the damage and the guy called and said it was no biggie but appreciated that I was honest about it.

People who park in the fire lane for just a *minute* some of the worst offenders in my town..those with Fire Fighter/Squad?EMT tags...!! [quote=jaboomer2;2897509]People who park in the slots beside the handicap places in the area for you to use for a lift or to help someone in a chair or walker etc... Yes! That is exactly my pet peeve. Someone was sitting in one of those slots when I went to Panera Bread the other day. Even though I probably could have pulled into the handicapped spot (there was enough room), I honked and waited for the person to pull out before I pulled in. And then I gave them a dirty look. |
