This is a great thing this church did.

This church in Charlotte nc gave the members money in a envelope to go help as many as they could with the money. There was 40.000 in the envelopes.
click the link to see what people did with the money. Most of they helped people who really needed a boost. some took what I see as the easy way out and just gave it to something like the scouts. didnt take the time to find someone really in need.
lots of great stories about who they helped and why.

Our church did this...

Last December a member anonymously donated $10,000. It was given out in the Sun. morning services in plain white envelopes. Some had $20, some had $50, some $100. We were instructed to use the money to bless someone else. Our community group(6 couples) put our money together, and bought bikes for 2 little girls whose parents weren't able to do Christmas. We also went in together and helped them with some groceries, etc... The week before Christmas everyone that participated typed up(anonymously) their story of what they did with the $$, and then these were put up all over the walls of the sanctuary for all of us to read. It was a really great experience.

Jo, I read this article in today's paper. It was a pretty amazing story! For the church - still growing, w/o an actual building, etc, to do that.. WOW! It sent chills down my spine.

Thanks for posting the link so that others can read about it.
