Wink My little girl "became" a woman

I'm so happy for her, because at 12 many of her friends had already started their cycles, and she was afraid something was wrong with her........I was worried I hadn't prepared her enough for when it started, but she didn't even bat an eye, though was embarrased when we were at the grocery store, buying one of just about every kind of pad out there.....since we went to a checkout lane with a young guy So tickled for her....but this means my little girl is growing up.....

congratulations. I miss my little girl! She started when we were on vacation at a family member's home, we were with family and all ready to go do some site seeing. I had to promise to buy her whatever she wanted to get her to leave the house!! She ended up getting some blow pens from a kiosk. What a great memory!!

don't you just love milestones.....

My poor 10 year old 5th grader started in Aug. I wish it would have waited for a few years. I had told her about it so she was not afraid at all. It is just so irregular right now. She seems to get it every two weeks for a few days. I don't think any of her friends are even close to starting. I did let her teacher know in case she ever just got up and ran to the bathroom at school. She would die if she knew I told her.

I sure can sympathize with your daughter. I also started when I was 10. Turned 10 in summer before 5th grade. My luckier sisters both started when they were 14. My daughter is going to be 7 in December and I am dreading the day she gets her period.

I can't even begin to imagine being 12 and wanting to start your period. DD is in 9th grade and started about a year ago. That's plenty early enough. There's just no way to determine just by looking at a girl if she's close to starting. There was a slender, flat chested girl in the 5th grade whose dad was such a trooper every month and would bring Ibuprofen to the school for her killer cramps. Mood swings are no indicator either. DD has always been such a drama queen so nothing was any different there.

So are you a Spartan fan then? I don't mind Spartans so much, really don't do so well with Wolverines though Love the Spartan coach, think he will really turn that team around.....

Sometimes you can tell if they are starting to develope breasts and if they have hair under their arms and other places. LOL My dd is overweight and has been wearing a bra and shaving under her arms for a couple years so I thought she would be early.

Really, I could care less. BUT, there used to be someone in my life that is a huge Ohio State fan. I won't really go into detail, but you know how sometimes one isn't competetive, or you don't really care about something till it seems overly important to someone that annoys you??? THEN it gets to be more important?? Stupid I know. I've never watched a game, but I always want to know if OS gets beat....especially by a MI team. ....sad, but true.........Man, I hate revealing that side of me! lol

Wink

I am not ready for my 12 year old to start her cycle. She only has one friend (who is 13) that just stared her cycle a few months ago. I was 14 when I first had mine and my mother was older too. I hope she holds off a little longer.

I had a hysterectomy 5 years ago and it was the best surgery I ever had. I love no more long painful periods. I tell my friends that it should be elective surgery when you are done having kids. LOL

I sure wish it were an elective surgery......6 kids I'm done, and it sure would be nice not to have to try and schedule around the first days of a heavy period.....I have told my DD this will probably be the only time you are happy to have your period........I started in 5th grade, so I was really glad to see that it took her as long as she did.....Kids are in such a hurry to grow up these days......

My 11 year old started a few months ago. We had talked about it, but I honestly thought it would be a year or two before she would start. She was not emotionally ready to become a woman, and cried when it happened. Hopefully, things will get better....
